Check that out man.. If you say that your bike bogs, that could be caused by the missing ring. If it's a one ring piston it's ok (besides that one piston rings are not used on dtr's) but if it's a 2 rings piston and the bottom one it's missing causes de-compression.. And maybe your bike needs that missing compression until 7,5k rpm. But check you sparkplug and check the colour of the pole.. And your carburetor.. Because that could be a simple bad tuning of the carburetor..
oki well when i looked it had two groves the same but just that one piston and on new kits it comes with two ? yeah iv cleaned the carb ect but like you said could need tuning witch was not done by me does any one know the factory setting for the carb ?

to tune up a carb you need to know how to man, it's hard to explain by message. you have to tune up the air/gasoline mixture
mixture screw, 1.5 turns out, air screw on older models is 1.25-1.5 turns out, newer ones are 0.25 turns out, float height between 15.5m and 16.5mm. Standard main jet is #210
