I recently bought a 1993 yamaha TDR and after playing eiht it for a while, i saw a black box which just came out, it wasn't connect. I beleive it to be the YPVS and one of the cables is snapped, do I need it and how does it affect my engine

no you do not need it but its a yamaha power valve servo and it is to very the rev range so at 6-7k revs it gives you a extra boost you can lock it closed or open for better bottom end or better top end but with the servo fited and working you get best of both worlds me personly would always want it over not haveing it and considering you allready have it keep it if not you could allways sell it
