DTR200 resto

While Erbisa has a DTR200 SM project going

http://dt125r.activeboard.com/t45821749/dt200r-supermotard-project/

Mine is more of a resto.

Like he mentioned already the last generation DTR200 are impossible to find here in Canada, they are mainly used in the dirt.

Found a pretty destroyed 1995 DTR last summer after months of searching.

Going through the resto now then will have to get it to inspection in the spring to get street plates.

Will start with the ugly and the nasty...

The ugly.

Some of the nasty.

Seized swingarm shaft. Took over a week of penetrating oil and bashing to get it out.

Seized a-arm, had to grind this one off.

Dead crank.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrwbYJCQ8uE    (Use your speakers)

Me wrenching away...

Some before and after pics.

Powdercoated stuff.

Resto on its way...

Wheels.

More to come...

Thanks Seiki,

I just had a setback, the Warp9 rims have a nasty bend at the weld, I sent them back and ordered Excel like I had planned at the beginning.

That will teach me for buying cheap what I now know are Korean rims.

Well if you put in the podwercoated hubs, custom Stainless spokes and nipples, new tires and rims, it kind of adds up. At least I don't have to pay for lacing them.

The pipe was sandblasted and repainted.

The forks got new seals and oil.

Carb got new plunger assy and rejetted for the removed oil pump.

Finally received the excel rims, wow amazing the difference between the two, I can't even find the welding area on these rims and obviously they are perfectly round.

Had time to install a few more things, swingarm, SST lines, caliper, forks, hoses...

The hardest thing now is to find time to wrench on it...

i bet wr200's are more common over there aswell, could prob pick some up cheap and easy.

and nathlaad a nice set of short fat ohlins usd's with little external gas resivoirs would look the dogs bollocks on ur bike m8 wink expensive tho lol

After doing some minor revalve on my ex 07 YZ, I was hoping to do the same on the DTRs forks but was very disappointed at the internals....there's 2 bushings and that's about it, no shims, no nothing, kind of useless.

Looking at the parts diagram for the WRs forks, they look basically the same as the DTr except they are USD, I would definitely go YZ or something more recent like that.

...but my next move would/will be SM wheels.

Right now I'm giving my wallet a major break.

thinking more of the expense haha, but the gold would settle nicely, WR200 USD's would probs be the best bet for this bad boy tho!

Totally agree, but I'm going all OEM for now until I pass that inspection, I was told not to mess around with after market stuff for the inspection.

Already have the LED flashers and will be getting something like a DRC tail.
