top end revs

Hi Guys,

Got a question, my accelaration is very good quite ballistic at times . I can acheive 65-70 mph in 5th gear at a push and with 10000 plus revs(not that I do this much!) but when I go to 6th gear it drops away and I can,t get any more than 8500 ish revs. It stays at 65mph give or take a bit, unless Im downhill ect  I,ve done the speedo reed thing, which is good. What restriction is stopping me in 6th and where is the bloody thing. I know I have to get a new exhaust (standard at the moment )  is this it? and what is the best exhaust to get if this is the problem?

Thanks Dan

Whats the tooth count on front and rear sprockets? it may be that its been set up for more lower end grunt, rather than top end.

DEP pipes are also supposed to have this 6th gear power drop (not that I've noticed it when I've had a DEP pipe on)
But if that's not applicable check that you have the standard 16/57 setup

If it has cables then it is the Servo you have and not pinned open.

I had a LC2 with servo and it wasn't as fast as my pinned DT. I did look a few days ago and there was something on the internet about the Servo needed a little adjustment to have it working correct

This was actually it. Obviously i have no idea what year bike yours is so don't know if it applies to you
