right gonna be fitting a hawk alarm in a couple of days but cant work out how to use this multimeter i bought lol
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270813416228&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123
thats the exact one lads, it didnt show in the instructions provided on how to set the meter to 12v Dc and to 12v constant, as that's what it states to do in the hawk alarm and was wondering if you anyone could tell me how to using this multimeter by looking at the pic of it?
Thanks in advanc

Cheers man, jus rang up the yammy dealer in worthing and he said there both the same as well from looking at the part numbers, hopefully this 2005re man' is an english one lol
Reef give Salim a ring on 0208 4047105 he's the technical bloke at Hawk, he'll sort it for you, I've just rang him because mines not working right,(mine just tells me to ride safely, on the turn of the key, and nowt else) he thinks its the self learning mode kicked in, you need to turn it on and off at the ignition 8 times to reset. plus I asked him for a longer led lead, hes going to make me one up and send it F.O.C.
BTW just ordered one of those bike covers off their website, large, heavy duty Oxford weave, £22.00 cheap as chips mate.

Have a butchers at that page 7 on the owners manual, about the learning code thing, 8 turns on and off. To try and test it out, and use the basic system first, just use the basic wires, the two battery wires, (red and green) the earth on frame,(green) and the indicator wires, once you know thats all working as it should, then move on from there, with your remote electric start etc. Oh and isolate the other wires too.

Thanks mate, ill have a look in a sec at the manual and probably do that on the weekend :)
Needa find out how to use bullet connecters if i do it myself lol, best start looking on youtube :)
(not that i dont wanna ask on here but it must be annoying when i keep askin noob'y questions lol)

Ah looks good mate, cheers, ill keep that in mind if i go over to pre mixing :) Gotta call up hawk again in a sec, they offered to help me out and make a diagram to correctly fit the immobiliser and remote start but they haven't got back to me yet and its been a while :/ hopefully there do it, mates tried to fit the remote start but it doesn't fire up lol
yeah salims been helping me ever since I rang them last monday when the alarm wasnt triggering but thanks for that :) Its a shame really, I sent him the dt wiring diagram as asked so that he could make up a diagram in order to help fit all the features but today when calling to see how much progress he had made he told me that he couldnt read it as its a little bit distorted :/ which left me to have a few universal diagrams which I doubt ill be able to use lol
Do you know mate (or anyone else) if theres a way to improve the quality of a pdf?? :)
I guess if i dont work it out or my mate i can always leave with my mums freind whos'e good with electrics lol
You'll need those bullets Yambits sell on Ebay mate, a couple of double females for the indicators, a couple of single male bullets from the alarm loom into the indicators, 3 washer/ring terminals, 2 for the + & - battery terminals, and one for the earth on your frame.Oh and by the way my problem was low battery in the remote, missus got me a cardboard pack of batteries off the market, £3 for 9 batteries(3xCR2016, 3xCR2025,3xCR2032,) the CR2016 bought per item elsewhere are £1.65. you'll need 3 per remote You can use 2x CR2025 off the same pack , but wont last as long, just banged them in the spare remote.
Yeah m8y i did get that pack of connectors from yambits which you gave me the link to with all those male and female connectors, but i never fitted them due to my mate doing the electrics for me, question is how can you tell the difference between the male and female connectors and so is it simply put a male on one end of the wire and the wires/s which also need to connect to that wire by the connector will need a female connector on their end, join and crimp the wires??? lol, i have no idea.
At the minute with the alarm i already have the indicators connected, LED and alarm working, its jus the immobiliser which isnt connected up and as for the remote start it doesnt work, salim say's its been connected up wrong.
And cheers about the info regarding the remote batteries although mines not died out on me yet but ill make a note of them battery codes for future reference :)
lol the difference between male and female bullet connectors, is a bit like the birds and the bees mate, you must have been off school that day lol. The indicator wires at the tail end of the bike, you'll need to cut each wire, to splice into it. then on the wire that actually leads to each indicator, bang a female double bullet connector, the wire you've cut that goes back to the main bike loom, you'll need to fit a single male bullet connector, that way the other spare connector at the double female bullet goes to the alarm loom after fitting a single bullet on to it, think thats best way to explain it Reef mate. you'll need a pair of snipe nosed pliers to crimp the connectors on to the wires, and dont forget to put the clear silicon sleeve on first mind.
Lol, dont fully understand it from that but my mums mechanic freind has offered to help out soon anyway so ill learn how to use em properly when he uses them to get the other features of the alarm working, probably better anyway leaving it to someone who knows what their doing, less hassle for me and everyone else lol
Cheers nev for trying to explain it tho, haha i must be an idiot :L
Lol, nah Reef mate, yer not, but when your sparky gets on it, watch all he does, just incase you do need to re-root it all. Make sure its well covered up/over too,(clingfilm maybe?) if fitting under your seat mate, all the road crud gets thrown up at it.
haha yeah mate thats what im planning to do, lot easier to actually learn something when getting shown how to do it :) its more of the fact that i dont wanna mess it up really
Yeah cheers, hopefully it will all be working soon lol, ill let you know how i get on
o.k trim wire ready then twist it,fold in half, to double thickness of bare wire, should have around 4mm of wire showing now, slide your silicon sleeve on and send it back out of the way, remember short silicon sleeve for male bullet, long sleeve for female bullet, k? let me know when your ready for next bit.
BTW on the male bullet make sure you have the long bit of the sleeve at the back away from the front where the metal bullet goes on the wire

Cheers nev, what it is is that when removing the tank earlier the bullet connector on one of the ignition wires slipped out on one side so im looking to replace it correctly with another one and was wondering if you could quickly guide me through it so that i can get over to the mechanic this week and sort the rest of the alarm out??
Heres a quick diagram i made up which might be easier for you to explain what to do:
O.K get c and take the metal piece out of the silicon sleeve, then get d, and the short silicon sleeve, not showing one on pic, then get some snipe nosed pliers. give me a shout when yer ready for next bit
If you're just joining the wire together Jay, use the single male to female bullets, but if you need to splice into the red wire to add another red wire you'll need, E,F,D & the small silicon sleeve, (not showing)
