got it started and it will not run without choke on
checked all carb, strip, soak, blow out once then again
checked float height ,re-fitted still the same
so chucked the old carb on the vm26 round slide one
started and ran the same cut out soon as choke off, revs as normal once its over 4 grand,
runs just like its got a blocked jet in the carb
so stripped that one and did the same checks ,re-fitted same again
getting stressed out now ha ha
moved on to left crank seal, no residue or sighns of leaks new seal also
good compression as its a new top end
got the pv pinned half open
inside of the cylinder was well wet with gray sumthing so im assuming, there was a leak some where and coolants been injested
so iv stripped the top end off cleaned, checked & fitted new gaskets and re built- so godda wait untill i can get it running again to see if theres any change,it ,must be some thing to do with the engine sin as it was doing the exact same with both carbs
Only my two bobs worth, but I'd go back to that crank seal again, run the bike then spray wd40 towards the seal, if the engine revs races its the seal deffo, in the past my dealings with seals, just because its new doesn't mean its not going to let ya down. But like I say only a suggestion, as thats what was up with mine, and I had to get it to a garage to sort it.

do you no if the oem seals are the double lip ones? viton or just normal single lip
iv got single lip ones i think so may be the problem just a thought
Sorry bud no idea, I took mine to a bloke who diagnosed it for me, he replaced the seal too, so I never saw, but if thats your hunch, go for it, you tested with wd40 spray nr crank seal yet?
i went to check all nuts around the cylinder and the front right base stud stripped threads so had to have it out and helicoil it...been one of those days ha ha
gonna strip and check/re-seal all the inlet manifold joints make sure there not letting air in either while i can get to it all
