Yeah i saw another guy here with the stock barrel and a 30 mm carb Dont know how much difference it makes when its just 2 mm bigger. And you might not want to waste money on a 34mm carb if thats too big for the stock barrel. You should ask around here and find out if anyone knows how big carb is the best for the stock barrel :)
early dtr's (up to 91) and dtlc's had a tm 26 fella. you really want a tm 28 to keep performance the same.... this one's on ebay cheap item no 220956918266
Sat, does the 4dl CDI plug straight in to the older DTR loom?
Oh and by the way, you haven't got a brembo front brake lever off the Belgarda kicking about anywhere have ya mate? or if not a pic of one so I can get one of Ebay, as theres a few different ones on there.
Cheers Nev

I would get a Dellorto 32mm VHSA, its fitted to the TZR/TDR belgarda`s as standard. If you dremmel the original rubber, they do fit, i have done this my self. The Dellorto`s VHSA carb is jetted for the DTR/TZR engines too. Just an idea really, if you want to move away from the restricted 28mm.
Am currently running a Ramair filter on my 32mm, taking off the orginal restricted airbox, and geting the jetting correct. Same really as the DTR airbox is also a restriction device.
One of my mates is doing his mikuni 28mm on a dtr, jetting for a modded airbox. Current from 240 main to an 290, This is on the Mikuni 28mm SS carb (97 on). not a huge jump in really, as the mikuni jets are small bore jumps to jet numbers. I think 0.2mm increase in jet bore size. The pilot jet was increased too, 17.5 standard to a 20 i think he said. The bike responded extrememly well, loads more grunt. Mid range power is more noticable. It proves that the DTR airbox, must of been a part restriction.
I dont condone any one to mess with their airbox carb jetting, cause if you get it wrong, the engine wont last, you really need to analyse what your doing. A fuel to air mixture meter is needed, and a rolling road. But once set, the power can be a good 28HP, like the Jap 4FL engines. But then again, The DTR CDI is also another weak area, too. You only got to look at the ignition timming graph on a DTR , against a 4DL Cdi. You will see the timming at the top end like 6Degs retarded on a DTR, no wonder they dont rev to 12k.
surly if its for a yamaha then a yamaha dealer can get it? lol have you got pics of the trasfere ports on your "P marked barrel n wats the head look like on the inside? iv got a 3mb one here that iv highly polished i was gonna use that,
i got it shot blasted first looks brand new
looking at these it could prob do with a bit more polidhing to get it pure mirror finish -- Edited by DT-R_bradders on Tuesday 21st of February 2012 01:35:25 AM

hi nev, ummm... the 4DL cdi will plug into a dtr loom, BUT, it has to be an early loom. 3 wire servo loom. and of course the 3 wire servo too.
if u find an older, say 1990 dtr, rip the head n barrel off it. stick on a 4dl top end. Plug in the 4dl cdi, scrap the 26mm carb for a dellorto 32mm.. and you will have a 33hp dtr. Thats is what i would LOVE to do..:)
as to the lever,
thats the one i have on my brembo master cylinder.Where to find another..mmmmmmm just done a search, can i find one can i heck..lol
Yup tis the same lever Sat, perch is anyroad, again old Ducatis, or poss RS Aprilia ey Bradders, i need the mastercylinder internal rubber now mines broken.
Braddeeerrrrz.. nice! The 3MB head looks identical to my head from the 4DL, the 4DL has no markings at all. I think it was a plain cast for Belgarda. I know Motori Minarelli, made the crank cases, cause they have got their name in the cast. This makes me believe that thy also cast the heads too. The PV case has their name cast also
I rekon the 3MB head is the same. SO just use that on top of a 3mb00 P 124cm3 :)
