MER!

Thats complete BULL!

We need to make a petition to stop this or something. This is a serious issue. I understand their concerns but for crying out loud they just don't want you to have a motorbike!

Totally agree but it's already happening so
No petitions will change it! The parliament suit ****s have no experience in biking yet see it fit to ruin it for the younger generation?

wat a load of ****e!!!

""the objective of these changes was to reduce the disproportionate number of deaths and serious injuries among motorcyclists. In the UK, motorcyclists make up 1% of road users, but account for 19% of deaths and serious injuries.[5] Whilst deaths and serious injuries have fallen by nearly 50% among other road users since the mid 1990s, the decline has only been 9% among motorcycle users.""

yea coz its all the stupid car drivers tht dont look out for bikers! n its there fault 19% of us are getting killed or ****ed up coz there the ones knockin us off! no matter wat test or how many tests you do u cant prevent car drivers from killing us ect, i think they should make it harder to drive cars n make them to tests to specifically look out for bikers,

oh yea and the reason deaths and injuries has fallen by nearly 50% in other road users ie car/van ect drivers is because technology in building cars safer has improved so much since the mid 90's, wat do u expect of corse thats gonna happen idiots! lol

wat are you morelikey to survive in a crash

this 95 fiesta fiesta-rafters-2007-06-1010-46-36.jpg

or this new fiestaford_fiesta_europe.jpg

its not rocket science of corse ur more likly gonna survive in the newer one coz its built to later safety regulations with better designed crumple zones, more air bags, seat belt pre tensioners, abs, loads of stuff the older fiesta might of had a drivers air bag n thts about it

and bikes... well nothing has changed your still bascally sitting on an engine with wheels and completly exposed to all the other arse holes on the road

my rant over lol

I mean it's all just theoretical policy, and as you guys have pointed out - a subjective one at that. The really annoying thing is that this will actually work too, not in the sense of making riding a bike safer - but less people will ride bikes and therefore less people will die. So in a few years they'll look back and go, wow the number of deaths on bikes has dropped ever since we introduced this...what a great initiative!

Ultimately, the thing that strikes me is this; the number of people killed by motorcyclists is extremely low...if a bike hits a car then 99/100 the car driver or passenger is relitively unharmed. Also, quite a few biker deaths are from guys over-cooking it round a bend and coming off, but this doesn't affect car drivers. The way I see it is this; riding a bike is dangerous. It's considerably more dangerous than driving a car, fact. However, it's a choice...the risk posed by bikers to other road users is very, very low. So why should we suffer? If anything, make driving tests harder! It's car drivers that kill pedestrians and cyclists and lots of other road users. But they can't, because of the reasons mention by you guys in terms of screwing the economy. So what the gov do instead is target policy that will yield the best results, with the smallest impact on the economy.

Once again, economic policy is driving non economic legislation.

Can't wait for the day when people just have enough...it will happen after this years Tory scum budget. It all went bombastic last year because of the police shouting that Mark Dugan guy, admittedly the results (riots, looting etc) wasn't exactly a protest against his shooting. But a protest against the gov doing what the fudge they want to make money for themselves and their school friends while turding on the rest of us. It only takes a small catalyst like the shooting and people suddenly release all the anger the gov has caused over last few years...and it all goes boombastic.

The worst thing is then people start saying, "the looters are scum, stealing stuff!". Well they've been robbed for years. Both financially and robbed of opportunity. What people really need to do is instead of calling out rioters and looters, call out the real crooks. Like Sir Phillip Green - he evaded £7.5 billion of tax last year because he has offshore accounts. George Osborne the chancellor wrote his debt off...and they went to school together and go on holiday together...

Said it before and I'll probably say it again, make car drivers have to sit a cbt as part of the car driving test, so they understand how vulnerable bikers are so that maybe it will stick in to the idiots head to always look twice for bikes!

Just a sorta "other users of the road" element would be good. Not just on bikers...but cyclists and even lorries too

yeah at the end of the day they just want young people anywere near the roads we cant get car insurance cheap enough so bikes the only option for some people and now they want to get rid of this option plus government go on about this global warmin sh*te and we need cut down but bike are economical and in my opinion people should be made to ride bikes for a year before driving a car so they realise and they then actually looks for us whilst driving these high up people need a reality check n get there heads from up there arses
