I have a right windows 7 disk Contains all x32 and x64 versions, Just put it in and choose which you want, (I always use x64 ultimate) Patch is included on the disc and it doesn't let it install the dreaded anti-piracy KB971033 update Installs all other updates perfect!! Installed on my SSD takes less than 30 seconds from powering on to ready to use and about 15 seconds to shut down, can't complain at that haha
Oh and office, I've got 03 (best IMO before it all got stupidly confusing and before they changed the file extension to .docx) 07 and 10 Drop me a line if you can't get your hands on a copy
I know what your saying about 03 office but for capatability reasons I'd use office 2010. It's actually very simple once you get used to it and much more user friendly.
Check fuse in plug, plug lead into PC, do you hear a little noise like your going to get a shock? if not PSU is dead.
Hear a little noise like you are going to get a shock? PSU is alive, the noise is because something is swicthed on ie the ram/hard drive/disk drives etc, because it doesnt switch on take the case of and take the CMOS battery out for like a minute, after you unplugged the comp from the mains or you could be in for a shocking experience - this may not fix it but some times it does IF the PSU works!
There are ways of checking the PSU with a multimeter, best to google it though as it is a long winded process
i know your not a dumb **** but make sure the switch is switched on, on the back of the tower, and switched on at the wall - some people i helped never switched it on at the wall, LOL.
From that then my psu is still alive as i heard it after doing what you said :)
how easy is it to take the casing off and get to the battery mate ive never took a pc apart before?? theres no sticker which seals it feom new is there which voids the warranty if you slice/remove it (like the xbox 360s??) as i might do what sgt ... said and try grt it replaced through argos??
you will have to break the seal, the battery is on the motherboard. also the test i told you about may work on blown PSU, but if it is nic nacked it wouldn't even make that noise. , and about the xbox360 sticker, why slice it? the four years ive been flashing them i've never lost warranty with the hair dryer and stanley blade ;)
ah ok mate, think ill get hold of argos first and see if i can get it exchanged for a new one before i go and break the seal, saves money and hassle if i can :) haha ive heard of people doing that but ive also heard they sometimes notice it when you send it off for repair lol
sweet, well if i cant get my hands on this windows 7 from my mate ill let you all know and you can each give me a quote for a copy or to borrow, cheapest/free'ist will obviously win ;)
I have 32 bit (home, pro, etc) and 64 bit on seperate DVDs, 64 bit is supposed to make better specs computers, with good processers and 4GB+ ram run more smoothly, although i don't run it on the machine im using now, i use 32Bit ultimate, send me a rough area of where you are and i'll investigate postage costs, you pay postage you can have one of the discs.
and sean sorry i didnt get back to you in time, I am but wouldnt of been able to make it as had work and got a mega hangover lol; i will try to come out soon, if you ever plan to go near hastings give me a shout and ill probs come out for a ride if im free
haha, well the ride didn't go as planned. Bike decided to throw a spaz attack and break down in the middle of ****ing nowhere. ignition coil or something is gone. Had to get it recovered to "creamsodauk"'s house lol
won't be sorted till i come back beginning of april mate. plans this weekend and off to belguim the next lol. shall have to do it when i take it to bradders lol. Hassle as means i gotta take the train to work for two weeks.
Right back to this thread :) Thanks to Ben ive got my other computer up and running now but need to get the old tower with probably a dodgy psu working again, ben said earlier in the thread :
"Check fuse in plug, plug lead into PC, do you hear a little noise like your going to get a shock? if not PSU is dead.

(never took a computer apart) How easy is it to take the tower apart and take the cmos battery out, psu and replace if it neccesary with my own hands??? shops are asking around £95,100 to replace the psu, and like ben said it might not even be that :/
