Play in the idle gear?
Permalink

Hello,

I've been progressing with the kickstart conversion on my 04 DTRE.

I have installed most now except the clutch. The basket is on and I'm worried! I have slight side to side play in the idle gear? This idle gear runs off the primary gear (Not sure its the cog underneath the clutch basket). If there is play in it what will happen when I am going along? Is this going to break the circlip and break the gearbox? Or is this normal?

Also I Cannot get my clutch back together for ****!!! After all the plates are back in and the pressure plate is in I am finding that the clutch leaver is still slack!

The clutch mechanism on the left hand side of the engine points towards the raised part. The pushrod, well that just seems to do fook all and can't adjust it to make it work. I don't think I've lost the ball bearing since i've done all this work with the engine in the frame. Could this be the reason why I can't adjust the pushrod?

HA HA THIS IS A BUGGER BUT TRY THIS...documented in the manusl, u must have the wrong is plate in the clutch

look at the fibre plates 1 will have a bigger centre hole and look thinner in width

 this one goes in 1st on the hub as the 2 spring thrust washers sit in the hub 1st dont they

number 3 & 10

http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/spares/epc2.asp?PageiD=13&modelID=9133&m=YAMAHA+DT125R+++2000+CLUTCH&uID=0

go in 1st then the thin looking fibre plate then the resst as normal

hope this helps

if u lay all the fibre plates on a flat table and look at them 1 is differentsmile

ahh dint see the bb missing part lol

yep thats the problem mate

just get an m6 bolt cut off 5 mm file down the burrs on the edges and slide that in in place in the middle of the rods

now this wont last forever as it will be softer than the bb but will get it up and sorted till ur next rebuild then u can put 1 in then #

smile
