Carb nightmare

If anyone has any ideas that can help I shall be forever in your debt. I recently tried to drill the the air screw out of my TM28 as it was well knackered. In a nut shell it went smelly and some bits came out n some didnt.

I dont think the front plate that houses this screw is any good now, I dont know if it is possible to get a new front plate or if its easier to get hold of a different carb. My DTX is fully derestricted so am thinking of a bigger carb maybe any ideas guys gratefully recieved.

I swear the original carbs are ****. Mine splutters loads from cold! And even my brothers DT did until he put a new carb on it.

Not getting any answer from gumtree guy at mo, so I had another go at my tm28. Managed to get out remaining bit of air screw, so ordered new air screw from Fowlers of bristol and hopefully theres enough thread left on the carb to take a tap.

Fingers crossed, if this works then gunna get gasket set and up jet and see what happens. Will post more info as i go, might help others.

Ok, carb is now fully repaired including damage to casing that occured during removal of air screw. Has a new air screw and also have fitted some boyeson 2 stage power reeds. Have started bike and seems to idle better will be taking it for a run later and rejetting to suit.biggrin
