Still no ****ing spark, tried changing over the coil/ht lead today but the ****ing mounting holes didn't line up so widened them with a drill, fitted it finally and bike still will not start.

****ing depressing, not to mention means i've now wasted £30 on getting the coil and ****ing train fare to my mates to spend 3 hours getting nowhere.

My brother had a very similar problem with his dt. He was so pissed off. Tried everything. Old cdi with coil. New cdi with coil.

Eventually he just wired up what was needed. Cutter everything out. So a key wasn't even needed to start the bike. I believe it was something to do with the stand switch broken. Or neutral switch. Or some relay at the back of the bike.
Maybe you should do what he did and just wire the cdi to the battery and cut everything else out.

Sounds like an electrical problem to me
Check the bunch of wires under the tank/left hand scoop
There should be some bigish ones
I had a red one go into a connector block and the connection was intermittent, when I examined it it had burnt through the connection box and was apparent that it was connecting intermittently, got a 2 inch piece of wire the same thickness and bypassed the connection box and never had the problem again

BUT.. My bike would still work.. Just non of the electrics.. I'd be going down the road and lose power (servo losing power) and all the divvy lights would stop working! But my RE had a kickstart so would still start up via the kick just not with the electric starter

Is it just me but does your kick start on your re work likefirst time everytime? Mine seems to start the bike 2nd kick when cold and then once it's warm just seems to take longer than pushing the button for 2 secs

And I always feel really silly cause the bike has electric start and Theres me fannying around with the kick start lol.

Still it's a nice addition and worth while in my opinion.

Great experience as well cause I can now happily work on the clutch should it need replacing without any problems.

I've always preferred the kick start;
Less things to go wrong,
Easier and ALOT cheaper to replace if something does go wrong,
Lighter (if you remove the starter motor after converting)
Doesn't flatten battery,
You look cooler kick starting it,
Doesn't have to hear the horrible noise of the starter motor, I'd rather take an angle grinder to my teeth then hear that noise ever again!!

The only good thing about the electric start is if your a lazy gitt or if you've broken your leg lol (but then again you could do it with your hand they're that easy to turn over)

It's not the sidestand or killswitch, it cranks over perfectly fine just no spark, if it was those it wouldn't crank at all.

Doesn't help it's ****ing miles away so can't just go work on it.

Pretty sure i got sent the wrong coil to be honest, the mounting holes didn't line up so i drilled them so i could get it attatched to the frame.

Looks like i'm getting on my knees to bradders when i'm back from holiday lol. Just gotta get it to him haha

shame you dont have a second dt or a mate with one swap items back and forth to eliminate as problems .

is all other electrics working ok lights indicators ect ...if not would have checked bad earth

you changed cdi and coil so its not them unplug kill switch eliminate that check for any wire shorts to frame or other wires ?

you realy need a multi metere to check if stator is generating any power to coil .
