Still no ****ing spark, tried changing over the coil/ht lead today but the ****ing mounting holes didn't line up so widened them with a drill, fitted it finally and bike still will not start.
****ing depressing, not to mention means i've now wasted £30 on getting the coil and ****ing train fare to my mates to spend 3 hours getting nowhere.
My brother had a very similar problem with his dt. He was so pissed off. Tried everything. Old cdi with coil. New cdi with coil.
Eventually he just wired up what was needed. Cutter everything out. So a key wasn't even needed to start the bike. I believe it was something to do with the stand switch broken. Or neutral switch. Or some relay at the back of the bike. Maybe you should do what he did and just wire the cdi to the battery and cut everything else out.
Sounds like an electrical problem to me Check the bunch of wires under the tank/left hand scoop There should be some bigish ones I had a red one go into a connector block and the connection was intermittent, when I examined it it had burnt through the connection box and was apparent that it was connecting intermittently, got a 2 inch piece of wire the same thickness and bypassed the connection box and never had the problem again
BUT.. My bike would still work.. Just non of the electrics.. I'd be going down the road and lose power (servo losing power) and all the divvy lights would stop working! But my RE had a kickstart so would still start up via the kick just not with the electric starter
Is it just me but does your kick start on your re work likefirst time everytime?
Mine seems to start the bike 2nd kick when cold and then once it's warm just seems to take longer than pushing the button for 2 secs
I've always preferred the kick start; Less things to go wrong, Easier and ALOT cheaper to replace if something does go wrong, Lighter (if you remove the starter motor after converting) Doesn't flatten battery, You look cooler kick starting it, Doesn't have to hear the horrible noise of the starter motor, I'd rather take an angle grinder to my teeth then hear that noise ever again!!
The only good thing about the electric start is if your a lazy gitt or if you've broken your leg lol (but then again you could do it with your hand they're that easy to turn over)
only thing that jar's me with kick start is i cant be arsed to get on kick it get off to let it warm up lol i start it then ride off keeping rev's low then arfter a little bit ill rag it lol
i may be able to help out and lend ya sum bits i got a stator and complete wiring loom here got loads of spares could lend them for process of elimination
