I have an issue that when I snap the throttle from idle the engine bogs down and stalls. Also when riding it'll bog down and take a while to pick up, if I progressivley open the throttle its fine. Im not to clued up with carbs is it a case of rejetting/fine tuning?

Cheers.

Easy way to find out. Remove the snorkel and go up the road. If it's worse then it's too much air. If it's better then too much fuel.

Them carbon reed valves are a gd source of problems aswell

If it was working fine before then its almost defo the carb that wants cleaning

Seized as in its fubar'd. Went out for a run on Sunday, not riding particualy hard, didnt notice the temp creep up, felt it start to nip so I pulled the clutch and coasted into a feild entrance. Thats when I saw the temp and knew what had happened, let it cool down then started it... sounded like a bag of spanners. This is the result:

Took just under an hour to strip it... found so many bodges!

One of many bodges:

Rebuilt under 1000 miles ago... umm doubt it, that head gaskets been around since god was a lad!

Doesnt look too bad tbh:

And the best bit:

Both big and little ends completely fooked, Loads of lateral and horizontal play. Full rebuild it is then

piston has some scoring but not alot, and the barrel looks pretty good.

Thoughts.

Not too sure, coolant was fine. I took the engine into work as a chap I work with is rebuilding his RD350 and knows a bit about 2 strokes and he said the bore, head and piston are fine and said maybe it wasnt the engine seizing I felt but something else going wrong. Going to stick a new crank in it, re hone and rebuild the carb too. I'll be starting a project thread when I get time and some better up dates... already decided on a new colour scheme!
