Whats the crack with this coil?

Recieved a new coil today,  it said its for a DTR apparently, but its different from the standard coil as it has 2 male spade terminals on it instead of one, it did come with an earth lead, with a female connector one end and a ring connector for earth, the other end of the wire. But its got me headscratching as to what goes where, obviously the orange wire from the CDI goes to one spade end, no idea which one mind, as the plastic that the spade end is set in are both the same colour, as for the earth wire, does this go on the other spade end? or does it get earthed by the bolt bracket as same as a standard coil?  I'm presuming Orange to one the earth to the other spade, then earthed by the bracket. Has anybody else fitted one of these coils before, because I haven't a clue with this one

just bang it on the frame and wire it up

its a solid thick circuit inside it ya cant really damage them put cdi feed on 1 spade and earth other, if it dont spark swap em round

ad get intouch wi em they musta sent u wrong one not seen a dtr 1 like that tho with 2 spades, unless its just 1 they found to fit on the dtr and listed it so

most 2 stroke coils will work tho mate as long as holes line up

Rang up the people I bought the coil off earlier, they say the Earth wire can go on either spade, as can the Orange feed from the CDI, aparently the older coils that earthed through the mounting bracket, got rusty and was prevented from making a good earth with the frame.

60mm between mounting, 2 spade terminal and earth wire

UPRATED COIL WITH EXTRA EARTH ADDED FOR A BETTER CONNECTION.

These are quality part, These are not cheap replacements they are very good quality at a very low price.

Not got it on the bike yet MDK, aye seems strange that it doesn't matter which wire goes where, looking at it on the picture though, I'd be inclined to put the Earth wire on the spade that sits above the mounting bolt hole, as this wouldn't have any problem if they were to accidently touch one another, whereas if you were to put the live feed Orange wire there, and accidently touched, it'd bugger the coil.

Too late Seany, its in a jiffy bag ready to post back tomorrow, I rang them again today, and spoke to the same woman, to tell them it had different centres as well as having 2 spade terminals on it instead of one. she told me that it said 60mm centres on the Ebay advert, to which I replied how am I to know what the bleedin centres were without taking half the bike to bits to check, plus it it did say was for 88-2007 DTR, in their advert, I'm just glad I didn't take everything off to put it on, I would have been well cheesed off, in doing that, then finding it didn't fit. Eyeing it up with Coasties coil,to compare, I'd say the centres are about 6-7mm out.
Plus I pointed out to her that the photo advertising the coil is an actual single spade coil, presumably a DTR one and not the one I received from them. She wasn't going to refund me, either but swap it for another one, till I told her I'd bought another one from elsewhere, bit dearer but ah well, This sort of thing happens quite a lot on Ebay, the picture advertising the product being totally different, last year I bought a genuine gasket set from a shop off Ebay, the picture showed Athena packaging with the genuine Yamaha coding on it, only to find when I received it, that it was some tin pot Korean set of gaskets I wouldn't have given 2 bob for. Needless to say they went straight back, with an accompanying letter, telling them I was going to get trading standards on to them, and surprise surprise, the day after they changed the advert picture.

Spoke to the guy from ebay (James), have discussed the problem with the mounting holes being out and he says to email him detailing the problem and he'll look into getting the coils looked at to make sure they're the right ones.

be sure to put the facts in feed back no matter how nice their emails or calls are . so others can see .

if you do put it on and try it be sure to keep feeling the battery wires for any warmth or over heating . its just not right at all you can either put a live or a earth to the spade ?

I am no expert by far but just sounds wrong... kind like saying you can put wires in a house plug any way round lol

Yeah to be fair the guy was quite threatening on the phone. But we shall see if it's just a simple mistake or whatever in due time. Nev mate when you send it back send a pic comparing the holes lining up along with it.
