would love to see a pic of this part lol[ it looks to me like a chain roller/tensioner] if you can not upload a pic have you tried searching for something that looks like it on the net ??

also what year ect is your bike ?

as for the spluttering problem unsure what it could be ..

maybe a badly done gutted exhaust . combined with the jetts or even the pinned open valve not correct ?

also your not missing any teeth on sprokets are you

yeah they dont do much but think the bottom one is more important than the top one ? you got the round spongy thing that go,s on it also ?

but as norfe says above chances are its down to sprokets are they bent warped or not tightend ?
any missing teeth ?
is your back wheel level check the tensoners on each side make sure the match up placement wise thinks theres numbers on them ?

get your chain tension right something is throwing that chain off but with out seeing it its hard to know what.

think you already said you got a dtr manual if not or you need to point to items the manuals in my signature below this text

alrite lasds need some of you lots legendary wisdome so far yous hav bin spot on so here we go again.

  1. 1) first thing when i got my bike it was in bits in boxes bags all sorts like a huge jugsaw but worse lol anyway its put back together and running but still got spares etc with it but you no how wen u buy flat pack diy furniture an theres always a couple of bolts left at end that dny seem to go anywhere lol well ive got a piece left and am convinced its causing problems but cant find where it goes and cant find it in haynes manual either. it looks to me like a chain roller/tensioner cant upload a pic cos av smashed me phone, it has a flat piece bit like a square ish butterly wing shape with 2 holes in it then it bends to 90 degrees out of this 90 degree part there is what i would say is a chain roller. but i cant find it in haynes and cant find a fixing point on bike. Now ive been out on my bike a few times and it hasnt really been an issue just pottering about to the shops etc but today fancied a bit more fun n excitement so went offroading on the trails through some private local woodland and twice whist under a lot of strain thrashing it thru woods chain slipped and got tangled round front sprocket was a right ball ache to get out, i fixed it adjusted chain made sure wasnt slack and off i went again was ok for a bit but then again as i was coming across the field as the powervalve came in it did it again. its fine just pottering about but when its getting a bit of stick it keeps doing same thing,

2) second as bike wasnt running when i got it and has been modified gutted front pipe, powervalve opened, dep back box, inlet manifold mod, i increased the jet to a 200 aswell as new crank seals. now bike is brilliant when first go out on but after about 20 minutes it splutters and loses power sometimes it wont rev properlly other times it revs all the way. only seems to happen when bike bin running for a bit and then only intermittantly, thought mite of bin that increasing jet to a 200 was to far so tried a 180 in it and its exactly the same.

Any ideas would be really appreciated lads thanks in advance

You still got the expansion bottles fitted?

You've got the PV pinned open havent you?

Is the barrel been rebored/oversized piston? Has the PV been modified to compensate? Is it running at a high temperature? Have you tried running with the choke on when it does this? Has the snorkel been removed?

Dirty fuel? My bike does that when it reaches the sludge in the tank. When it splutters can you pull the clutch it and rev to compensate? What spark plug have you got in there. Have you checked the colour?

running oldert rubber from carb to airbox without the hole or bottle, still got front boost bottle, powervalve pinned open, standard cylinder standard bore, snorkel still fitted, its not overheating, just put a new standard plug in it, wen it splutters if i pull clutch in and rev it it stays the same for a bit and eventually clears but not for long. gonna go get a new air filter see if that makes a difference, any ideas on chain roller m8????

is ur back wheel in straight?? adjusted right

may be an ignition problem that, put the carb back to std as per manual spec then go from there

so ur missing a chain roller is that why u think chain keeps derailing

Why don't you just clean out the air filter? Why'd you need a new one?

Dunna forget to prime the air filter with oil after washing, 2t oils good to use.

it should be damp not wringing wet through.
