depends how deep ur pockets are!

iv had 2 cr 125s on the road good fun but tempramental

mx engines are full blown race purpose buit engines and run at the limit all the time reving them sens to bits to make them move your screaming all the time

so unles you spend 200 and have a steel liner fitted to get them most out of it up to 4 bore sizes be prepaired to spend, as one little nip up on the plated barrel means £175 rebuild

the dtr engine is capable of good reliable power if tuned correctly

in my opinion id spend some ££ on the dtr engine

fit a good pipe & bigger carb then send the top end away for a fast road tune mickj abbey or some one similar

mx bikes are only built to do 15min races then rest then race then rebuild low geared and not made to be flat out for long periods most mx bikes rarely go over 60 mph

so  even tho iv had both id go with the dtr lump

if u want that brutal accselleration you get with an mx bike just play with the sprockets got 12 60 t or sumet that thing will flip out ha biggrin

but ull loose top end

but like most men we never listen to some one we like to do and learn the hard way

if u wanna doit doit biggrin

only way u make your mind up on things

250 engine/500 geared right last well as u dont have to rape the engine to have fun

see if the top end will graft on to the dtr bottom end, my mate had a 1987 kmx 125 and put a kx 125 top end on it using alloy base plate, went really well

Watched a vid the other day of some chav riding YZ around town, all he did was make lots of noise and pull off quickly. Soon as he eased off the gas he looked like he was going over the handles. Better on track imo .
