my dad has the new xt 660, boring is the word id use for it

not that great at handling, quiet heavy with a high cog. 45bhp is pretty pathetic but with open pipes its got a good rumble too it.

id honestly avoid them. really not that fun or great and they devalue quick

after seeing CRF 450's mentioned I did alot of looking about at them. and my god, what a sexy bunch of views I've found, I'm totally considering buying one and using it purely for supermoto, it'll flatten that xt 600 i reckon. the xt 600 to me looks too low at the back and too bulky for the lack of power it gives. maybe if it were ... thinner slightly, had better styling and 50x more power then yeah, I'd get one, but for now, my heart is set on the CRF 450 Supermoto.

i'd use my zxr 750 for motorways :P ( had it for nearly a year now, only ever used it 3x the DT's far more fun =D ) and whywould I need to split the engine that often? I'll just keep it maintained and it'll be groooveeeeeh

they are basicly race bikes though so designed to get maintained ALOT. if you think that race bikes get rebuilt after like 30 hours use, reliability wont be great on the road if you arent rebuilding it often, well this was my experience when i raced motocross on smaller 2 strokes, anyone correct me if im wrong ?

the new crf's are bulletproof mate, in sure you can get the road legal ones and in sure the factory mx bikes are gunna be.tuned off there bollocks = no reliability so you will be fine with a crf!

Yeah that's a load of bull m8 the crf's are bullet proof just run good oil regular checks and make sure you get the advised clearences done on the valves, no trouble at all.

been talking to my mate that has one and he said he gets his serviced once a week at bike shop for £30 and has clocked up 11k miles since he's had it and has only had it rebuilt once and before he had it it'd only gone through one rebuild but only because prev owner was a tool and didnt look after it, and by that standard, it sounds to me to be a pretty solid and awesome bike

Yeah bud you can't abuse them or you'll end up paying for a new lump, just keep up regular checks/services and it'll be fine as a daisy, good oil....clearences, filter changes etc, etc :)

30 bean a week to make sure it's all good is a nice fee to pay as well, the money i'd save on 2t oil and fuel would easily fund it x)

ive had an old chinese 90cc 4t which was prety fun and a ttr 125 but thats it, never really worked on them or took them apart, would be interesting to take one apart to see exactly how the valves ect work on them

When i can afford one, Im gonna get a sumo, No idea which one tough. Proboably a husqvarna, Aprillia or KTM.

Im not shure if you can even get a Honda crf 450 registered in norway. But their gorgeus !. love the looks of them.

but shouldnt they be reliable ?.

Was a dude in germany i talked to who said he had changed the crank bearings on hes engine twice, he had a ktm 690 smc, He changed the bearings first once, and after 20 000 km i think he said he had to change the bearings again
