I've got a DT230 engine but I'm looking into running it on on a 125 loom and cdi so I can get rid of the traction control system it comes fitted with.
After having a look over the 230 lump, there is a small black unit/cylinder fitted to the oil feed line between the oil pump and the carb. It's fitted just above the oil pump and it also has an electrical connection.
I was wondering what this unit is, I can't see any mention of it in the DT230 workshop manual I have. I was just going to remove it but it's marked 'DO NOT REMOVE'.
I'll get hold of a picture shortly to help with identification.
At a guess maybe it's an oil sensor to make sure that you're getting oil through the pipe from the oil pump to the cylinder, to let you know if the auto-lube is failing or not? Hence the "DO NOT REMOVE" Just my 2 cents anywho.
Right, been on holiday but back into looking at getting this sorted. I have taken a couple of pics but there on my iphone, not sure how to get them uploaded here?? I'll upload as soon as i figure it out
After having another look it says 'NEVER REMOVE' rather than 'DO NOT REMOVE'. There's a feed that comes from the bottom and goes to the carb, a feed coming into the side from the oil pump marked 'P' and an unknown feed on the top marked 'T'.
You can make it out in this pic: http://p1.bikepics.com/2008/09/27/bikepics-1430544-full.jpg
It's between the rear brake reservoir and the pump cover. The feed marked 'T' has what looks like fuel line going to it, so i was thinking 'P' for pump, 'T' for tank or tap? Maybe some sort of fuel/oil pre mixer?
