Well, picked up new spray gun today, and at £330, it feels and looks pretty freaking awesome.
After having a quick look/fiddle with it, I came to the conclusion that I want to powdercoat as well.. So I'm considering buying a cheap rig to start using, if I do get one, I'll offer a mega cheap offer on powdercoating your stuff for you... Never personally paid for powdercoating myself as I've got a friend who does mine for nothing, so once I'm all set up and going, get me quotes and I'll do cheaper deals for yous all.
i've got a massive outdoor arguer in my garden, i could restore it and then put in like a couple 2000w heat lamps with thermostat to adjust heat which would make a perfect oven. an as i said, idk how much powder coating actually costs, so idk if with me doing it for you guys would work out cheaper or not, either way i'd still like to get this rigged up as it could be a nice little money earner for local people as well.
investment would probably be about £500, and with the right advertisement etc i could probably make it back within a few months...
wouldnt care to leave those on for long either, a lot of police helli's fly over here too becuase of all the weed growing thats going on recently, they;d raid me almost instantly seeing that overhead just to see a frame, or swingarm cooking :3
Not trying to piss on your bonfire but what sort of prices could you be doing it at?
Just there's a place in brum that will do a whole set of car wheels for £80, no idea how on earth they even make profit on that! Sure you could still get business doing it more, but would be surprised if you could do it cheaper whilst still being worth your time
Goodluck with it would definitely be a cool thing to be able to do
i'm not sure on prices just as of yet because as i said, i've never had to pay for powdercoating, or even enquired about it, so idk what a 'good' price would be, but i was thinking perhaps just charge for the paint, and like 10 - 15 for doing the work, paint seems pretty cheap too and if i've got enough of the color you'd want all ready, i'd charge like 30 - 40, depending on if it's just a bike frame, or wheels n w/e, anything like a tank or something would be a whole different matter x)
Well the place I go will do a car wheel for £20, bike frame for £20, motorbike frame for £30- £40 etc
I don't know how long it takes, but if you can get close to those prices without having to spend all day doing one part then you could have a good little business
Good thing is you can give individual quotes for different people / different parts so don't have to stick 100% to prices in case you get one part that's more complicated than others.
