Depresses me looking at the bike in such a state :( Also, who wants to help me set up the powervalve 'cos I don't think it's working. Power seems to tail out in 3rd or 4th at around 8k.. in 3rd if you give it the beans it splutters at 6k then is alright again until 8.. I'm guessing this is a PV issue?
that, or air intake, too much air and not enough fuel mixing, have you checked your airbox to see if the snorkal is on it? if it is, take it off let more air in and see if that helps, if it's not on there, try getting one to restric the air, or check your carb's jets.
cheers fellas. Yeah, I took the cover off the powervalve and the notch in the engine lines up just about with the pulley.. so i adjusted it leaving the tiniest bit of play ion either cables so that they do line up and it's still the same. I did take the snorkel from under the seat off the bike when I got it but have since put it back on.. it was running better with it off tbh..
With regards to the stand, it cost me a fiver from a mate who brought it to find it doesnt fit his Busa. LOL. It'll do for cleaning and general maintenance :)
try taking it off again then, maybe not enough air going in now then, airfilter could be lagged restricting the flow, so clean up filter, take off snorkle and see how it goes
Mines been upjetted by the previous owner but didn't run right at high revs, opened up the airbox more and now it runs a treat - not that it's your issue but you never know
Lol about the stand always good to get a good bargain
You need to adjust the pulleys so the arm sits dead on with the whole that's inside the cover.
Should be obvious when you take it off.
Some people on here think that putting it slightly to the left gives you more power. I'm just going for factory.
Now if you take off the exuast and feel up the exhuast port you should feel the PV.
Turn the ignition on and off.
It should do its cleaning cycle and now be in its most opened position.
Do you feel that it is not flush with the exhuast port. Or that it isn't even open fully. Adjust the pulleys to correct this.
By lining up the whole with the arm this should mean the PV opens fully.
If it's spluttering loads then this doesn't sound like a PV problem. How can you tell? Well on mine i can turn the PV off and run with the PV fully closed. This just means I get bottom end and no top end. Just revs and revs with no power increase. I can pin the PV fully open and the dt doesn't splutter at low RPM but struggles to pick. As the RPM picks up it hits its Powerband.
If its spluttering then its your fuel mixture. Too high for the air.
You can either adjust the air mixture by removing the snorkel or (if that's been done) sawing the air box open.
