I have rubbed away some of the paint on the frame at the bottom just above the footpegs with my boots. Its a fairly common thing which done on bikes I do it with all my bikes must be all the tucking myself in when going round corners & bends etc at speed lol. I will be touching it up for now but it will only rub away. Has anyone made their own or modded another pair from elsewhere?

Something like this smile

I agree I don`t think it would cost no where near that much to buy the same size metal to shape and knock one up yourself

Would interested in this too, gonna have my frame powder coated and would love to put these strait on before it's even ridden, I think modded ones would look better than home made

botched these onto me off roader from a yz 250

wouldn't take a lot to tack-weld sum jubilee clips on the back to secure them properly though? (bolt holes dont line up and had to bend them a little biggrin )

I've got a piece of Ali I could use but it's the shape pressed into them that gives them the strength,I'm gonna have a look if yz ones are cheaper than dtr,,just gotta drill holes and put washers behind them

Wait till you ride with someone that you normally ride with,,they will be a dot in ur mirror without even having to cane it,,make sure you keep an eye on yer plug chops coz you've changed the whole combustion pattern an may need to jet

Think the frame guards need to sit off the frame a bit or the guards will just rub the frame instead of ur boots coz you'll get grit and stuff in behind them ?

3 oil drums, 8 cans of black ht spray, about 12 cutting discs, 2 grinding discs, 6" pipe, 4" pipe, stainless bolts n nuts, box section and angle bar I already had, 6mm ss bar, and ss grill mesh I already had too, so probably about £200-£250 plus time, made another one a while back for my 40th, but my mate bought it for his hotel. Oh aye and a **** load of welding rods.

Spacers agreed is the best solution. But what a bout gaffer tape and then some kind of adhesive felt like what they have under the tank that stuff ?

Either way has pros and cons,,felt/foam etc will hold onto moisture,,but a gap behind will let mud in and needs to be washed out if you go thru loads of boggy mud,,ahh just had a thought ...neoprene would work coz it don't soak up all the water

Been busy building this for the last week or so, nearly finished , but when I do, I'll see what plate I have kicking around, and see what can be knocked up, regarding frameguards.

Aye, but if I can't get hold of the nuclear fusion reactor, I'll just use it as a smoker/bbq
