wonder if one of you could help me-my dtr 03 plate is spluttering like made whenever coming into the power band, its not so bad in lower gears but certainly alot worse in higher gears- i pulled onto the motorway and recently it has been spluttering sort of bogging then accelerating bogging then accelerating and staying at around 55mph - 'the bike used to do 70mph with dirt tyres on'-im not amazing with mechanics so took the bike to a mates house we cleaned the carb out which to be fair was really clean,we also took the airfilter out which was to be fair 'fuc*ked' and tried running it with the filter in and out-there was also water in the filter but im guessing that could be from jet washing?-we changed the jet from the carb from 140 down to 120..anyway i drove home on the mottorway again the bike got up to 55mph then bogged right down to 30pmh!!! i feel like crying i spent so much cash on the thing!- ALSO!- i am constantly loosing water from the expansion chamber it bubbles and just all comes out-so i constantly have to top up- it wasnt long ago i had a new head gasket in!- when i first boguht the bike it was running smooth as ever-ive done a bit of googling for people with the same scenarios could it possibly be a ****ty powervalve?, water getting on the electrics?-- my mate says he thinks it a cracked head so i am loosing compression etc...any ideas people? i cant have a dt that does 35mph!!! LOL.. cheers
yeah as above say try retighten head bolts but dont go over the top you could snap a bolt ..... if that fails then take of the head and cheack the gasket ..last resort of a tight ass like I used to be lol .......is remove head use a tube of gasket sealnt all over each side of gaskets and replace lol , not pritty but do,s the job
haha course i did so u can turn that cumberland of urs into a double ender energized! haha- theres no water escaping the head or anywhere round there - bought some rad weld and a new spark plug as the bogging of the bike was probaly the plug gettin wet-internal water n that apparently-think really there is a hairline crack in the head- the rad weld certainly made a difference but its not gonna perminently fix the issue- i think a new cylinder head and barrell is on the cards- anyone got one let me know!.. :)
He he! Good lad! Atleast you didn't buy crappy gazzies! And oooh bet you'd love that Dill
I'v e got a spare head you can buy off me, will get it bathed at my dad's work place and re-enamled nice and sexy for you, will give it a lil skim aswell, although it's already in good nick.
