Problems with my gears
Permalink

So... recently a problem has occured.Sometimes when i shift from 1st to 2nd. It just goes into neutral. Thats not too big of a problem. But sometimes it has actually jumped from seccond and into neutral....

At first i was thinking maybe shifting upwards without the clutch while wheelieng had damaged the gears, but i havent used 1-2nd while wheelieng. just 2-3-4

Do you guys think my gears are about to brake ? or could it be as simple as too much oil / wrong oil ?

To replace all the gears i have to Split the whole engine right ?. Ill guess if it gets any worse ill open up the engine on the clutch side. I can reach most of it from there cant i ?. I know my selector fork is bent actually. it got bent while i was putting my engine back together after changing the crank. But it has worked untill now.

If it gets worse ill open up and check the selector fork. Thanks for the tip.

Do i have to split the engine to change any of those parts ?. Other than the whole box ?

Hehe. When i was gonna put the block together. I think the fork arm was in the way. And i didnt notice. started banging a bit to try to get it together. then noticed i had bent the fork arm xD

Do you think its damaging to the gears themselfes when this happends ? i mean when it goes from 2nd to neutral ?.

Or can i just drive like this untill i can be bothered to fix it ?.

Im not a man of action xD. So i cant picture myself fixing this before it gets so bad that its a pain to ride it. But if its gonna damage the gears im gonna have to fix it right away ..

cant see how you would bend the fork as all 3 are tucked away in the gear clusters so cant hit them or owt, its quick shifting that bends the forks over time ramming it in gears, thats why mxers suffer chronic bent forks as u just shift with the gas wide open most of the time , alot of stress is put on the inturnals,

I dont remember how i did it. But i think the arm was too far out. and when i started pushing the block together. The arm got bent.

Do you think if i continue shifting gears without the cluth, That it will just brake my other gear selector fork ?.

Is the selector for the only part that gets damaged ?. I heard people saying its no harm to the engine to shift up without the clutch. And thats what im doing.

Ive been shifting alot whitouth the clutch lately because ive been training how to wheelie.

How much is one of those gear selector arms ?. Can i afford to replace it every now and then for the fun of wheelieng without the clutch ? xD

theyre about 40 quid

and jumping out of gear is usually a bent selector fork

I was talking about the part number 2. But to change the parts your talking about. I have to split the engine completely...
