.. That you could do your test on your DT and get a restricted license. Then January 2013 it will automatically upgrade to a full license? No waiting 2 years basically.

That's according to an instructor I just booked my CBT with.

well i just did my test on my dt but dident get told that it would automatically upgrade but kinda makes sense considering all the licensing is changing

the licence is going like at 16 u take a test to ride a 50cc then 17 u take a test for a 125 then 19 u can take a test to ride upto 48bhp then 21 you can take a test to ride unrestricted but you have to of ridden a 125 for 2 years before your 19 to take a take the restricted test and have to have the restricted test for 2 years before u can go unrestricted but if your over 24 u can do a full unrestricted licence

isnt this going to be for people who did it on a dt over 21? in other words it basically transfers from an a2 licence to a das a1?

Dunno about that, thought the 2 year restriction would apply still? I thought everyone just ignored the bit on you licence where it says restricted to 33bhp lol.

Yeah. Doing extra hours at my Saturday job atm, but that will only cover sorting the bike out. When I start my apprenticeship i'll sort my license out. Can't imagine it being too hard. I mean I ride every day. And I never had much car experience and passed that a piece of piss.

Yeah booking the theory pretty soon and will crack on with it. Will prob stick to the A2 as I like the idea of using my own bike and not that bothered about the 2 year wait.

 

So you have to be 24 and over to do the A2? Why? What justifies that change? Are they saying it was an unsafe decision before? Idiots!

Ok so did CBT again today (flicking thing went to 9am to 6pm wtf!!) and the guy didn't even remember I was booked in let alone what he was saying the other day. So at this point I dunno, could be total sihte

Yeah man not going through this siht again. It was pretty much the CBT from hell. We didn't get on the bikes till 4pm. That's 8 hours of sitting talking about helmets!!!!

Before Jan i'll do my A2, no plans to sell DT anytime soon so can wait the time till it upgrades

I went and picked up my cert yesterday as lost my original one..

In January it will be going upto a 600 to do the DAS and aged 24 and above for unrestricted!

My neighbour has ridden for years and doesn't even have a CBT, I keep telling him he needs one but he doesn't feel his bike warrants it lol

my instructor was saying he knows people who ride thou's with no licence if there in big groups they dont tend to get pulled!
