RE Not turning on properly :/

Alrite lads, havnt been on the dt for a couple of weeks now due to working a lot but today i had the time to get it out to take it to work. Thing is when i was riding down i needed to stop somewhere so i turned it off for a couple of mins and when i came to turn it on with the key it didnt want to, meaning it didnt want to do its powervalve cycle, the rest of the lights didnt want to come on and therefore i couldnt start it. It was only when i left it on the on positon for a couple of mins when it would finally turn on (do its cycle, turn the lights on etc.) so that i could start it.

Funny thing is is that as i finished work when i turned it on it came on fine and started fine, however as i got home i turned the engine off by the key and as soon as i tried to turn it on it again it didnt want to come on.... i kept turning it off and on and it came on finally, started it up, left it for 10mins and now it seems to be turning on fine now with the key?? seems tho this problem will happen again so anyone got any ideas?? I know the starter motor on its way out as it can sometimes take a while for it to try starting the bike, Could this be it?? or maybe its my poxy alarm wired into the ignition but its been on the bike for 3+ months so surely it cant be that??

Cheers :) (now im going for a ride, hopefully its starts again, if for some reason i need to turn the engine off, will try bumping it if it does it again to see if that has any effect lol

Could be contacts within the ignition itself, either corroded, or even a loose wire. maybe worth just checking it over, and the block connectors too.
