These bikes are gonna be classics... mine already is ,stash the good one for when you sell the bike then fix the gearbox in yours wich is half changed anyway and build/tune it again, your engine will be mintDid you spray the cases when you rebuilt?

Okay. I got a case.

I have 2 engines. one stock that has never been opened up. done 25 000 km. Thats not alot really.

And then i have my own engine. wich has done 43 000 km. But has new main bearings and crank.

My problem is that my own engine that is 100% perfect condition with all new crank and bearings. Has started getting its gears worn. So i want to get it fixed. But i cant really be bothered to change the gears from my spare engine. since i then would have to split both those engines. And therefore decrease the value of the one that has never been opened ALOT!

But what i wanna do is to tune one of the engine a pretty bit, Using the standard barrel, Port the exhaust ( cause thats the only port i belive i can fix myself) And lighten the flywheel. And try to get it to run with my 34mm carb + powerfilter.

But what engine do i use to test this out ? :( I dont want to use my own engine wich has a new crank on it !, especially not for using a lightened flywheel. And i dont want to use the spare engine. Because the spare engine will be the engine im gonna start using from now on, since my own engine has the gears ****ed up.

And what do you guys think is worth the most money. If i change the gears and make my own engine perfect again. with gears that has done 25 000 km. And a crank and main bearings + 170cc wich has only done about 2 000 km ?

OR. a engine that has done 25 000 km but has never been seized or opened up for any reason ?.

I want to try to keep some value to my bike, cause im selling it this winter / next summer. One of my mates said that he would rather buy a bike who had a engine that has never been opened up or anything. And i kinda understand. But hell...

Please help me deside what engine to tune the **** out of ?

Im gonna make a project topic when i deside what engine to tune. I got all the tools i need available.

Anyone got any other ideas for what tunings i can do to the engine ? I dont know how to port the inlet ports. The only port i am pretty shure i can handle is the exhaust port. Just make it a bit higher and a bit wider.

Gonna download a tuning manual for 2 stroke engines. And read some about porting.

And maybe ill consider lowering the cyllinder head.

And take notice that the engine thats not gonna be tuned. Will be the engine wich is gonna be driving around with the 170cc and 34mm + powerfilter.

How much wear does it give to the crank if you port a cyllinder and maybe lower the cyllinder head ?.

Will that be tougher for the crank than just the 170cc like im driving now ? im thinking that if you port a standard barrel your gonna get more rpm right ?

id put the standard engine in for now, buy another gear cluster from ebay or where ever as theyre fairly cheap then put those into your current engine, then tune the standard engine

Ill put on the spare engine. Then tune my own engine. And when im gonna sell my bike, ill make my own engine fully standard and sell the bike with a spare engine. The spare engine should be worth some cash when i sell it with the bike because of the new crank !.

id just get a gearbox and fit it to the engine that needs it...

just coz an engine looks new and untoutched dont mean its good, it could of had micro siezures on the big ends or any thing  daft like that

seen it all b4

unles uv had it from new and rode it like a 90 yr old woman

just coz it looks good dont mean it is

unles you have just built an engine its not good lol specially 2 strokes as soon as they start there distroying them sens lol

like us...as soon as were born were on a downward spiral lol

biggrin

Yeah i also think my own engine is the best since i rebuilt it myself.

But my toughts are this. In 2-3 months i get drivers license for car + winter is coming to norway. Next summer im gonna buy a bigger bike.

So ill just fit the spare engine wich i know never has been split. It belonged to a friend of mine earlier. And before he got it, it was so new that i cant see any reason why anyone would split it xD

i might fix my own engine and put on some decent gears on it when winters here and i got drivers license for a car.

but untill then im gonna drive with the spare engine i have. And tune up my own engine. Will be fun.

Anyone know how much you can lower the Cyllinder head ?. A friend of mine is gonna ask hes boss ( he works at a workshop who does stuff like this ) how much it would cost to lower a 125cc cyllinder head.

+ their gonna lighten my flywheel, If the price isnt too high.

Then im gonna fit the 34mm inlet manifold + carb and port my 57mm barrel. And maybe do some polishing in the exhaust ports. And on the cyllinder head.

Gonna make a project thread i think. But if it turns out costly to get the workshop to do the lightening and lowering, I think i might skip it. atleast at first. Cause im already ought to spent 100 quid on a new piston.

And overall since i got the bike i think i spent like a 1 000 -1 500 quid. So this is most likely gonna be a cheap and fun project for me. Or maybe no project at all. Guess well see tomorrow when i get to hear the cost of it !.

Spray the cases ? you mean painted them ? nope.

And yeah i bet this bikes are gonna be clasic. But i wont keep mine long enough for the price to actually go up again xD haha. Im selling mine next summer.

But actually today i had a whole day of alot of riding and it never jumped between the gears. I dont think ill bother changing the engines. And the workshop i wanted to do my skimming of the head and lightening of the flywheel was too expensive. Ill wait and see, If ill do it im gonna do it myself when i get some tools in hand. Im working as a sheet metal worker trainee. I can proboably use the lathe the got at the workshop im working in to do this kind of work. But that will have to wait untill after the 4 week vacation ..
