Thanks again everyone! I have ordered some carbon fibre reeds hopefully that should sort it. Will have a good inspection of everything at the same time. I just noticed a tight small split on the rubbery plastic bottle joint to the right side of the carb could that affect the performance?

here are some pics. so the when you talk about the swapping the 3bn head over does that mean i have to change the cylinder too or can you literally just swap the head?

no lol you can just swap the head over while the heads off check everything is fine in the top end and use a genuine head gasket when you put it all back.

He's got the 3MB head if I remember correctly, same as my head at least. Which is a 3MB

That's stamped on the crankcase though, it's a possibility that the head and bore have been changed no?

dont worry about the model of the head, not the cause of the problem

I  have sold 3 3mb head so they must be better

I didn't think it would be a problem either, just that if he needed to change some parts over then I have the same head/engine and would lend him anything he needs as he's a dude and giving me a caliper carrier :D

Sounds a bit like mine when I got this dep exhaust, just wouldn't rev past 7k or something. 1kg of caustic soda did the trick lol.
