Well...
Went for a great ride today to the MOT which was booked for 10.30!!
So got 3/4 of the way there and there was no mechanical resistance in my clutch lever... Thinking it was the cable, I managed to isJust it at the lever an off I went.. 5 minutes later, the same bloody thing happened, so once again I adjusted the cable at the lever, got outside the testing station and guess what.. Same bloody thing happened!!
I got into the testing station and told the mechanic what had happened and he tried the same thing as me and adjusting the cable.. I said what I done on the way there and he seems to think something inside has given up..
Anyway, I asked him if he could still do the MOT and he carried in with it...
Wish I never got it MOT'd now, a total if 13 items on the failure list.. Not happy!!
I've now left the bike there for him 2 do the work and I can pick it up in 2 weeks(payday)...
I will list the failures when I get home(on mobile at moment) to see if anyone has any parts etc to save me some cash!!
Oh and to top that off, I got home earlier and there was a parcel for me... Bkoody bike jacket I won on eBay for £3.20 just to rub it in a little more!!!
I took the bike to a Highly recommended bloke in Exmouth.. I was going to take it to Massamsof Colyton but after the problems I had, i thought it would be best to take it somewhere else.. oh well, in just over 2 weeks i'll have my bike back!!
Just hope now that the clutch problem wont cost 2 much!!
Wheres these circlips/split pins 12&13 situated at? and when you say A-arm you mean swing arm right? those bushes are about 80 quid, and you'll probably spend an hour getting the buggers out if they're seized.
no the circplip thingy is the split link securing pin
The A-arm is the relay arm http://www.yamahascooterspares.co.uk/spares/epc2.asp?modelID=9132&PageiD=22&m=YAMAHA+DT125R+++1999+REAR+ARM&uID=0 (number 13) it's the bushes in there - according to yamaha you need 4
Ah right with ya now. probably best banging the whole unit in there if you can find a decent 2nd hand one, with all good seals and bushes, maybe save yersen a few bob that way.
now with the clutch problem... does anyone know if the Ballbearing can break down or missing... i definately put the BB in, how can i get it back out with the pushrods without totally stripping the bike again?
heres a link i found earlier with a very similar problem...
I've pm'd ya coastie. Sounds like you'll have to strip the clutch though, unless its just your clutch cable stretching when it's about to snap. When you've removed the clutch pressure plate, just lean the bike over and the ball bearing should fall out (if it's in there!). I've never known one to break up though.
Nev, i've had it apart since then!!!, it's doing my head in and im thinking of taking it somewhere else, i do have some knobblies but they wont pass as "Not for Road Use"
ya can borrow my wheels for the MOT, and I didn't want to insult yer intelligence by telling you to lean the bike over, I'd presumed you'd already tried that.
i'll let you know, i've sent a list to Jerry to see what he can come up with!!
I've got a long magnet thingy i picked up from trago so going to give that a go but i know it wont fit in the hole!!
will let you know once i've got the bike back..
whats your views on the lights issue?? i'm thinking regulator/rectifier - indicators stop working when brake pressed.. There new LED indicators, Resistors, LED Relay etc so doing my head in!! at this rate im going to get all the boys from here down one weekend and get everyone working on it!!!
Just need a van now to get this bloody bike back, cant risk riding it back and getting problems again!!
Check the rear brake switch wires just incase you have the wires arse about tit, the wattage on the halogen bulb isn't too high is it? as for the led indicators, possible relay issues? Brian Loram where I have my bike at the min is gearing up to do MOT's in the near future, John T's at Newton is usual place I take mine to, strict on safety aspects but lenient on the other stuff I've found.
wheel bearings and spokes u shuda done any way as there cheap as chips and if uv built the bike from the ground up i always change all bearings in and arround the chassis
looks like its gonna be expensive if ur paying some one to do it
id ov just fetched it home and had a play address 1 issue at a time, if there conna start stripping the clutch there gonna want to put gaskets/oils/coolant labour while they find the problem
& bbs are hardened they dont really wear in there there bathed in oil and wear a dimple in the ends of the rods if owt
whats the battery like is it at full chat with just ign on
most spokes have to be cut out as they sieze solid and snap most of the time so id tek nev up
good luck with the work mate and keep us posted
need to find ur self a nice back water mot shop lol
Right just an update, I'm fishing the bike back over the next couple of days, getting the parts off DeeTeemx, I've also found out what could be wrong with the clutch...
Cleaning me garage out today and there's a small shiny thing rolling around the floor!!!!
Bloody BB!!!
Yes I know I'm a ****!!!!
Quite surprised it lasted 13 miles... Perhaps thats a lucky number for me!!!
