I was working on my bike till late last night as my piston is nearly at the end of its life. So I thought I would nick the piston from my spare engine which has got a brand new piston in there so. It would be a simple swop. I did exactly that I swopped the barrells over aswell as the piston job done and went to bed shortly after. Today I went to try the bike and the temp hit the red hot mark within no time at all. after several basic checks and tried the bike again but still no solution so had a word with NORFE. And guess what he said to me you haven`t put the base gasket upside down and blocked the hole. I Ripped the head off and there it was a covered hole just as predicted. on further inspection I had broke the top piston ring I put that down to too much heat and no coolent to cool it down. I`m lucky I had a spare ring to slap in. So lesson learn`t here people never work on a bike when you are tired & its late It could of been alot worse but never the less an unecessary hassle & breakage
i did the same thing mate half one in the morning banged base gasket in just got the piston rings inside the barrel my dad came out like Ross is that so post to be like that lol
