"Overall, the bike measured 88.6 inches long by 32.7 inches wide by 49.4 inches tall. Its curb weight was approximately 240.3 lbs., and its maximum weight was 665.8 lbs. Its seat was 35.4 inches high and 29.1 inches long. Its fuel tank held 2.64 gallons, with 0.47 gallons in reserve. Its top speed was 71.5 mph. Its frame was made of double steel pipes. Its steering angle was 27.5 degrees, and its caster measured 113 mm."
heres a quote from the sunday times
"It gets even more mysterious when you compare these with some bigger machines. Some 70 mpg is quoted for the Yamaha four-stroke XT350 trail bike, while 75 mpg is given is for the 4-stroke XT125 and the 2-stroke DT125R. The Kawasaki KLR 250, which is a four-stroke trail bike, offers 65 mpg, much better than Kawasaki's 125cc 2-stroke trail bikes."
So later in the year, probably around early september, a friend and myself are planning to ride around the UK on 125's.
Trying to work out how much it is going to cost so wondering if people know what mpg they are getting from their DT125's?
In the for sale section someone is claiming theirs is getting 70mpg. I think i worked it out at around 50mpg for my DT125RE when i had it but some other would be useful. I'll be riding a 98 DT125R fully de restricted.
i get about 70-100 till reserve cant rember how much a tank holds so thats how usefull i am and awesome ones mate i was planing on rideing to the Netherlands with my buddy from london but well it got messed up so now wear not going =[
Cheers for the quick replies guys. Yeah my workings were based on the tank being 12litres + reserve and hitting reserve at around 100miles. Based on that it is around 50mpg. I also rode mine quite hard in the powerbands but will be riding much more conservativly on this ride to save fuel and it being a long ride rather than grin making trash. If I can budget to a mpg worked out from people who ride in the bands i'll be ok.
im pisses last week i brimed it cost me a fking tenner road 20 miles then 20 miles back then 10 to work and 10 back so 60 miles i then had to put it in reserve 2 miles into my commute i was fuming i rekon my boss stole some
I read somewhere that you can get over 100mpg from a dt if ridden properly. Although that's complete bollocks as I go through a full tank on a ride to Ace Cafe, a short razz around and the ride home.. I'm about 29 miles from the cafe, so i'm getting probably 70. Fully derestricted also, valve fully open all the time, gutted standard exhaust, snorkel removed etc
