lol MDK I were messing with bikes back when you were still pooing yellow mate, lol stole your idea pah
like I say never used it on a clutch, but used it for a bonnet release catch on a Capri I had nigh on 30 years ago lol
Must say it a novel idea for the welder mind. looking at some of the various vids on there using batteries, wouldn't mind having a play about, as welding with aluminium stick rods you need DC to be able to weld , I presume I could still reverse polarities mind, good for welding casings etc.

So first off my rear wheel spindle is shagged, then I snap the caliper carrier and then today I'm cruising at a sensible speed and the clutch cable snaps at the lever end when I'm coming to a junction. Good job I have legs to walk places eh.
Another fix is if you have a spare clutch lever where the (just for you Nath) nipple lol sits inside the lever its already half drilled out drill the rest out put a bolt in the hole and place wire around the thread and tighten up with a nut that suites the bolt thread. If you are lost with what I`m saying I will post a picture as I have one that I made up recently this method the same as what has already been put work a treat I`ve had to do it very recently myself till my replacement part arrived there is a post about it

like me nath my bike hasn't been to the shop twise in how many days lol and dw man arfter a wile you will have a little stock pile me and most people on hear just incase =]
It's not even asif the cable was getting caught anywhere, the pissing nipple at the lever end smashed to pieces instead. Even still has the little metal sleeve bit on the cable. Noway I can fix it with a Solder gun is there?
Never done it myself, but a small household electrical block connector , (plastic with brass clamps) can be used as an emergency measure, take out one of the little brass clamps and tighten it onto the cable end,
stole my idea ........lol yeah they work great and if you file or grind a little to make snug fit last ages also make one or two spare ones for emergencys
not tried it yet but if you have the equipment welder or burning tackle ? heat up a small blob of metal or alloy to melting than stick the end of cable in to it and let cool . then file to shape ......
you can use carbon rods to do this with electric welder or even a 12v batt here I made a video of how to ages ago .... two carbon rods on a car batterie melt gold ect realy easy so you could gold tip them lol .

lol when I said my idea I ment this post 9 days ago ?
AAh right, you can also use the live wire clamp on a 3 pin plug, just grind off the fuse holder bit, thats better still as its basically same size and shape as the original cable nipple
Lol well it snapped on me and now I can't get a block connector, or plug bit to stay on. Maybe the end of the cable is knackered now and I don't have enough spare cable to cut abit off and start again. So I'm going to steal my brothers from his XR125. Should fit right? If not good old SGT Syphillis has one for me :)
