How much sidways movement should there be on a con rod as my wre 125 has just started making a rough noise from the bottom end i took the cylinder off and theres loads of side ways movement on the con rod i,m talking 1.5mm of movement either side but there was no up and down movement on the rod though

side ways movement is not a problem there well floppy on all bikes aslong as theres no up n down

a good way to check for play up n down is heat the big end with a blow tortch

this will then be like when the engines running heated up and expanded

when its cold things are tighter

then grab the con rod with a glove or rag and pull n push it

or grab the magnito in ur hand and try and wiggle it, any move ment when cold will double when it heats and expands mains will be shot, what noise is it making??? knocking on tick over??

it sounded like knocking and the piston is scored quite badly its only done 110 miles i also found the 2 stroke infeed pipe had been slightly melted by the exhaust not all the way just enough to melt the outside of the pipe is it possible that the point where the pipe is slightly melted was restricting the the oil supply to the carb and and possibly be why the piston is scored so much if so do you think i could stick a new piston in there and run pre mix instead of using the oil pump

yeah could be, also cud of got a bit giddy and thrashed the bike b4 it was ready and it expanded to quick, which side is the scoring on intake, exhaust or all 4 sides?

i always run premix on 2 strokes save all the pain and ££££ wen the pump fails

a leaky right seal can also cause exhaust side siezures, some thing to do with the molecules of the oil

I took the husky out for spin today it sounded very bad i got it home took the cylinder off thinking it was the piston that was ok it was lightly scored but the bottoms ends ****ed i think its the big end bearing you can turn the engine over no problem but when you hold the con rod and push the kick start down the con rod will not spin on the crank it should cost me few £££££££££>br />
