hi guys ive got my dt and it is a dtr frame and guy befor me put dtx forks and wheels on it. Im 15 stone 6foot6 and the front forks are sitting into there travel way to much and then when i sit on the bike they go down evan more and making the front end low and i need it to be high. so my question is is there a way to make the dtx forks harder, im a push bike man and ive stripped push bike forks befor but never motobike forks, i no a littel but need some help thanks. Got a photo off my bike so you can see what i mean
thicker oil all the way ; ), nev did you find when you rebuilt ur forks that the spacer tubes at the top wer different lengths as well as the springs?? seemed weired to me wen i found this?? lol
Never needed to rebuild my forks Bradders, luckily the previous owner had them sorted mate. but I woulda thought the springs would be both the same length mind
Do the 125 forks have a schrader valve in the top like the DT200 ones ? This enables you to add air to the forks to stiffen them a little , you only need 1 or 2 psi .
thanks for the help lads nev i was speeking to you on youtube about your dep can haha, yer i thort thicker oil, i have some questions tho, fist are both sides oil, 2nd if so there are 2 bolts at the bottom, is it that you take them off oil comes out into jug and then put them back in and then take off the two top caps and poor the same amount off thicker oil in the top. and 3rd NEV you think 15W is good to go for or sall i go stiffer like 20W. 4th any good oils for me to go for thanks.
Ayup there Live2ride, aye I remember you now, good to see you've joined the forum mate. right then, you'll need to undo the allen bolt on the side at the bottom of the fork to drain it out, and you're right with the top caps to fill it back up, I'd try the 15w oil to stiffen up, as 20w would be a tad too stiff in my opinion, but remember if you find its still needing to be a bit stiffer after using 15w oil, get equal parts of 15w and 20w and mix to gether in a jug/container, this will give you 17.5w oil if you get me, same if you find 15w is too stiff, mix 10w and 15w oil in equal measures, that will give you 12.5w oil.
