gilera sc 125, uses same engine as the dt??

anyone ever heard of this, mate bought one today and when going to have a look at it myself the engine casings and the shape of the engine is the same, all the same markings, including yammy on the side, powervalve, 3mb etc?? even when using google images and sc manual they all look like theyve got one cus i first thought previous owner may have put a dt engine in

as it being the shape of a rs125/ybr the differences i can see are that it uses a different exhaust, runs through the middle of the bike rather than to the side, different choke setup as the choke is on the handlebars next to the clutch, different rad, airbox etc

If it is the case, which is must be its probably the re/x engine as its an 08 plate, leccy start and has the kickstart option,

nothing much regarding them on ebay but im sure if they are the same it may be a cheaper way to get engine parts cheaper than normal because of them seeming not that popular??

They are licensed I believe. I don't think they are Yamaha engines but are using Yamahas design. I would avoid and suspect inferior quality personally but not 100%

not sure about the 2 smoke engines, but i know for a fact the chassis and the 4 stroke lumps are thrown together... mate had 1 for 4 mothns to learn on an it literally fell to bits no proper shocking build quality, pity cos it handled lovely.....

If he spent 1300 he could have got a tzr 4dl probably with the real yamaha engine, ported well, full 33bhp and looks like a 250!

the engines are yamah, the gilera badge is stuck on with doublesided tape and yamaha is underneath, the engine codes are the same as yamaha, and all the internals are the same as the dtre/x
