btw Seany, did that wet suit place flog you some neoprene in the end? Infact heres one for ya, if yer getting someone to stitch on some velcro to make some tubes for your forks, get them to make one extra, but a tad bigger, and see what it looks like on the rear spring, or even get some on each side of the swingarms at the rear as a protector against the chain.

So it's been a while coming but i thought i should wait till it's done before posting. 10 months after i first got the bike and my vision is (almost) complete.
Started off like this.
Immediately had plans to redo it. Has been neglected in it's past, 7 previous owners 13k miles on the clock.
Gonna skip the small parts, first big purchase was new tyres! :D
Shecksy Dunlops :D ultra grippy and they look ****ing awesome.
Then of course my bike broke down. :( Here's us trying to fix the ****er by changing the spark plug (incidentally, my L plates never last more than a week on the rear)
It stayed this way for a while as i was off to Belgium the next week. Took about a month before we tried a new coil (which was the wrong one) which was dissapointing. Eventually i arranged for the bike to be couriered home to me so i could attempt to fix it. Long story short i couldn't so i shipped the bike up to Bradders! As he has the tools and expertise to do what i wanted which was powdercoat the frame, rebuild the bike up and make it silky smoooth. I shall update this thread later with pictures he has taken during the strip down including the exploded rear shock. and old piston.

will fill this in later :P

So onto ordering the parts, new handlebars, new loom (as we thought that was my problem), front sprocket and assorted other goodies.
Sent all these up to bradders in a huge box, must have been like christmas for him :D
Onto the rebuild!
(bradders had some SM wheels laying around they're just to see what they look like :) )
Shiny red sprocket and chain, 520 conversion!
The rat tank! When sent off for blasting and coating the tank had more holes in it than a dutch prostitute so this was just used for the 100 mile ride home :D
We had a rolling chassis but still no spark! ****ing irritating. Had to send it to Yamaha to sort it in the end. Faulty wire in the generator what a pisstake. Getting there though :D
The nice DEP exhaust i bought, sprayed up with plasticote BBQ paint... started flaking off near the engine by the time i got home. Shall redo it at some point.
The new tank resprayed in Black ready to go on, unfortunately a petrol stain on it already ffs so shall have to redo it haha. Considering getting it done professionally for petrol proof affect.
The side panels before i stripped off the paint.
And finally the bike was in working order. Only took Yamaha a month before they bothered to look at it, lazy ****s lol. After many hours of finishing touches and brake bleeding it was nearly 2am and i had a nice long ride to look forward to to get home.
The bike felt weird...the rear suspension was actually pushing me upwards (the previous one had exploded so it was just the spring holding me up), the new bars where wider and taller. And when i went to pull away the front wheel went almost vertical. HOLY **** this slag had some power now, not suprising with a fresh wossner piston and about 1.5cm of carbon build up removed from the top end. This is a few pictures from the ride home which took a good 4 and a half hours trying not to rag the hell out of it to help the piston rings bed in :P
Filling up with petrol :D
On my travels home i encountered the same road that my bike had initially broken down on and had to have the bike recovered so i thought why not have a break and take a picture (it was getting light by then haha) :D
The next day I set off to show the bike to a friend. Got 2 minutes down the road and the bike dies all over again. So after a panick i whip the spark plug out, it's crackling but not sparking properly. My bike appears to hate irridium plugs as it was brand new and had only done 100 miles. New plug in and the bike starts up and runs. down the road and it cuts out again, running fine on choke but choke off and it dies. Bradders suggests the old tank probably had **** in it and to swap them over. Fuel tap filters clogged up almost so cleaned those and installed new shiny black tank which my dad helpfully spills petrol over the brand new extremely well finished paint job (cúnt). After about a mile or so the problem clears up and the bike runs perfectly again.
Couple of pics of the new tank, which had completely different thread sizes on the bolts to hold the air scoops which took about a week to find replacement bolts lol.
Few pictures taken on a ride out to the Devils Dyke, just as the choke problem came back, so had to clean the inline fuel filters and spray the pilot jet through with carb cleaner which was hard work considering i've never stripped a carb down before. But i managed it :D
This was the filter from the carb where the fuel line goes into it. The pilot jet was almost completely blocked but didn't take a pic.
Spend another 2 hours or so changing the seat cover over (on a comedown and not letting there be an air pocket or ripples, hard work but worth it haha)
FINISHED! Will update whenever i add or change something. I'm planning stickers and maybe handguards atm.

Maybe red neoprene fork socks too?
Looking good Seany, dunna listen to the nasty bike breaker Nath.
I was actually thinking this as i have quite a lot of the neoprene left over. Wondering how to go about it though. Not very good at sewing but was thinking maybe sew a velcro strap onto them so they can easily be removed :)
Looking good Seany. Where abouts do you live then? I'm in Worthing and often venture to Devils Dyke. Usually on the push bike but sometimes on the motorbike.
Haven't got round to making the fork socks yet, but the silencer came off at about 80mph the other day lol. luckily i got it back but it's a tad bent.
So yeah it's usable for now but blowing where it connects to the xpanny as i had to use a car jack and half hour with pliers to be able to get it connected lol. My poor stubbied pipe haha. Maybe there is hope for it yet. As for why it happened, well as you can see the second mount has been removed at some point prior to bradders giving it to me and i threaded the one near the end of it. Thought i'd got away with it as i got it tightened up but must have vibrated loose. An 85/90mph blast along dual carraigeway + a hench wheelie away from lights would do that lol.
