hi guys,

a friend from work has a aprillia mx (2010), after work we started our bikes and smoked a ciggy whilst they warmed up....

we cruised down the high street at simular speeds (not pushing it)

we both pulled up at the red light and knew we where going to have alittle race.

my dt was mush slower than his mx. cry

now i know a few of the restrictiuons have been done. and i am persuing the others

i have orderd a full DEP exhaust system.

and afew other bits and bobs for the bike...

what i am looking for is..... someone local, i would like someone with good understanding of the dt to check over my bike, also fit the exhaust whislt we check why my bike is underperforming.

i am based in southampton, and if theres a price involved we can discuss before i/u visit or meet

Thanks guys

if you have a tired top end then ull loose power any way but the mx aprillia motors are really good out of the box and will be faster than most 125s any way

just been out on the bike to get a top speed, the power bands dont really open enough, it very slight and only noticeable in 1,2,3

the bike max revs at between 7500-8000 revs

good speed progression stops at about 45mph--- it wil get to 55 and struggle to go higher

this leads me to think that the bike is lacking its power.....

so what next?

Woa woa woa!

Those MX's run on the Rotax 122 engine don't they?

If his model runs on a Rotax 122 or 123 engine and has a working RAVE system then doesn't matter what you do to your 125, it aint going to be quicker. The cylider and porting is far better on their engines compared to ours.

You'll have to accept the fact that those Aprilia engines are fast but require more maintenance.

Best thing you can do to match the performance is to send the cylinder off to be ported.

I think I will check the power valve when I add the new exhaust.

It's not a case of beating the mx, it's not looking like a moped behind it. :(

I look like a moped behind my brothers RS125, same engine. Beats me on acceleration and on top end.

I've taken the bike to be checked by my local yami dealer, (for free) he spent 10-15 mins looking over the bike and told me too change the 2 stroke oil, change the spark plug, let the bike run through 2 full tanks of fuel, and fit my new exhaust. He thinks the bike has been sat up for a year and just needs a good blasting out. (the bike was stored in a garage for 10 months before I bought it and previous owner had left it with a full tank) exhaust comin soon new plug being done after work and collecting new oil 2moro.

Ima give that a shot and see what the performance is like in 10 days.

ok update.... changed the exhaust, cleaned out the carb, drained the fuel tank, changed the fuel filter, drained the coolent system, drained the engine oil, removed cheep 2 stroke oil from bottle, replaced with recommended high grade stuff.

lots of work and black finger nails later........

the bike performs 100 times better... hitting a top speed of 80, when hitting 7000 rpm the power valve opens correctly and the bike goes like stink.

further to that have made a few aesthetic mods too, new progrip hand guards, new grips, new indicators all round, waiting for headlight from ebay.

thanks for the help guys......

Did you drain all the oil?

MAKE SURE YOU BLED THE OIL SYSTEM THEN TO GET RID OF ANY BUBBLES OTHERWISE YOU@LL SEIZE YOUR ENGINE!

Mine cost £30 to prep, shotblast and powdercoat, the frame was £110, but this was last year, done by First Choice of Exeter, cracking job, only bugbear is the two week turn around.
