I'm gettin confused here xD

NorDt ment that the only way to get 20-20bhp would be the wire earhed + an aftermarket exhaust, am I right?

The bikes are restricted to 12 or 14hp for the uk market. I beleive by de restrciting you will get them to around 22, which includes de restricing the standard exhaust as well as all of the other restrictions like the read switch, earthing wires, cdi's. Any gain in hp passed that would be through engine tuning.

As for exhausts, i've seen alot of people say that they got no more power by using a DEP etc pipe over a properly de restricted standard pipe which i believe.

The TZR125 belgarda model claimed to put out just under 33bhp and was using a nikasil barrel which is known to add 3-4hp due to smaller clearances, it also was ported differently and a different head and carb.

I think the confusion is coming from my example using hp erlier. I wasnt meaning to give the right hp for the right rpm for the DT i just mean to give an example.

Different exhausts may give different bhp. The forming are different on all the pipes, which would make it most unlikely that they would give the same effect.

Going to see if I can get some more opinions from the Germans , cuz I just got two. Alot of them uses the athena so it cant be bad.

Also, I see many people putting bigger carbs on aswell, a 32mm carb, even with the original 125 cc cylinder. Does it really give much more bhp, or would it just give better respones on the throttle? also, is it expensive?

Carbs are expensive. You'll also start to ruin the fuel economy. DT's aren't rip roaring power. If you want something like that buy an aprilia. Otherwise you're just ruining the reliability and fuel economy of an everydaY BIKE

"I tested the gianelli with "abe" and the athena.
The athena exhaust gives you a really good power between ~6000rpm to 10000 rpm !
The most power he has at about 7500 rpm!
The top speed is at 130 km/h

The gianelli has power from about 7500 rpm to 11000 rpm!
The great thing on the gianlli is, that he has the 2 stroke kick and the powercomes at 7500 rpm at one moment!

The athena comes slowly but have a good power through the whole rpm band!

So if you really loves the 2 stroke kick i would prefer a gianello exhaust without "abe"

Another thing..

How do you make wheelies in this gears ? :O
I get my front wheel on my dt 125 - 2005 with athena exhaust only with cluch in the first gear up ): "

Athena seems to be quite similar to the stock one then

I am saying that im shure a Gianelli and DEP gives more bhp than a derestricted pipe !. Because yamaha never made the dt to be as fast as possible. Why would their exhaust be the optimal exhaust for maximum power when nothing else on the bike is ?? Theres proboably nothing on the dt you cant optimize for more horsepower. And i think the exhaust is one of those. Derestrict it okay. Get a coupple of bhp more. Buy an aftermarket exhaust of someone whos aiming to make an exhaust to get the maximum power out of just that part. And you will get more power !

Aside from de restrictions, what other bits on the DT are you meaning? Theres gonna be loads of little things that a race team would probably do but then thats gonna ffect your reliability and a race team will rebuild the engine after the race. They will squeeze everything out of it for short period of time. I'm just going by what I've seen from many others that they got very little difference in power going from a properly de restricted standard to a DEP. Never seen a dyno report but a few of the people to have mentioned it were pretty well trusted and sold on the dep not long after buying it because they didnt feel it was worth the money.

It's ssaid tht the DEP moves the power around more and offers a higher up powerband. I personally wouldnt want that as Its a 125 and its gonna be getting ridden like a dog anyway and adding to that would risk reliability even more. (please note i do not ride dogs so don't call the RSPCA)

I do however love the sound and look of the DEP. I have one on my DT at the moment, but only til i get the stock one painted! Not heard much about the Gianelli, got any links?

Tried out my topspeed with gps, I got 126km/h lol..

I'll try keep my eyes open for a 2nd hand Athena exhaust
I don't expect it to do 140km/h cuz they aren't high rpm exhausts like gianelli, but I'd love it if it atleast did over 130km/h, and I'm sure they would give a bit more power and torque than stock

78mph genuine is pretty good I'd say. I'll let you know what mine does when i finally get it finished. Will be able to test between dep and stock de restricted.
