So found the reason my dt hasnt been as fast as it should.
Turns out the screw that holds the two parts of the powervalve together has loosened, So only the side with the wires to it has been working. And the other part has been stuck and this has made the surface of them ugly and a bit bashed.
So i will be buying a new set. And my bike will be standing still for some days, I dont wanna put a bad powervalve back in xD
I was actually opening the head to check out the condition on the rings, And then i saw the powervalve and was like " Whaaaaaat has happened here ?? " it looked twisted xD
And btw, 0,04mm of clearance on the rings is proboably fine right ? . its supposed to be between 0,02-0,06 i belive. So i dont think ill be changing the rings this time .
Blimey, got any photos? Sorry to hear that and hope it's not too costly or painstaking to sort out. I'm confused as to how it left oneside still and turned the other. As TOW says the dowels should have prevented that. If you need a new powervalve or any bits i've got quite a few spares. I'm sure you've got a shed full but just thought id offer them up.
Haha, Well. You see when the 2 parts of the valve loosened, The holes of the dowels got ****ed after a while and this made it so the dowels could pretty much move freely.
Thats how one part could move but not the other. The dowers was made of a much harder steel than the valve itself and the dowels ruined the holes.
Haha yeah, I ported the standard a bit, And with the 34mm it turned out to be proboably as fast as the athena, But alot less torque.
But who needs torque :D, Its fun to wheelie and im thinking if the Athena had aprox 30-35 bph. And im not saying the athena had 35 but proboably a bit over 30, I think my standard barrel is now doing something like that, Maybe 28-32 bhp.
when i had the dt all standard apart from the gianelli exhaust, It was so slow after 60-65 mph. But now its pretty fast all the way up to 85 mph. If its not doing more i dont know, Its just bottoming the speedo so easily,
Its so agressive when it comes up on the rpms, Im amazed of how fast it really is. The athena 170cc is really just a bottom end barrel, Because you can get the standard barrel to do the same kind of horsepower with a bigger carb and some porting.
Im not shure what made the main difference when it comes to bhp, The porting i did or the 34mm carb and powerfilter. Could be both, Anyways im really happy about it and its soo fun xD. Feels like im driving a 125cc enduro with sm wheels ^^
It spends pretty much exactly the same amount of fuel as the 170cc too xD
And yeah im pretty much fine, My ribs hurt a bit if i sleep on them, And if i breath my lungs absolutely max full of air xD. Coughing, Sneezing and moaning ( if thats what its called, you know the thing u do when ur tired xD ) Still hurts a bit.
But im good enough to be myself on the road again. Will be posting a new youtube vid tomorrow if the weather is okay. This time with the 125cc barrel :D
