been looking for some clocks for a while, which will end up on my q plater. had to be cheap as i want to have a crack at enduro as well of lots of green laning = lots of accidents so vapour's were off the list. found some 4dl clocks for 20 squid on e-gay. and fook me,their massive

no space for the ignition so it went on the side

gotta love clocks that dont bother with anything below 3 grand biggrin

trouble is,their so big i'll hit every tree in sight...

its mainly the stems and spindles/spacers. i ground my stem down, wont do it again. my local engineer reckons he could push the stem out and machine it to take a dt top bearing (bottom one fits fine) wheel bearings are easy enough (simply beaings) measure spindle for inner, wheels for outer and depth. then its spacers (engineers again) i put a yz wheel on to save hassle biggrin

Ok.

I'm looking to fit RS125 wheels on mine.

So basically I've gotta take the whole lot down to an engineers and have him make up, spacers, and the spindle and sort out the yokes.

Doesn't sound like too much work.

i would for the headache involved in sourcing parts hmm for an engineer though its walk in the park stuff (plus for insurance its a whole lot better if an engineer did it) talk to bradders,he was thinking of doing similar. a problem shared is a problem halved and all that biggrin

Cheers buddy.

Yeah. I'll get everything that I want putting on then send it all off to an engineer to sort out.

Thanks again for the advice. :D

If you decide to flog on those clocks Dave, let us know mate, I like the fact they top out at 13k, and converting the KM's to MPH, that 190 KPH top end works out at 118 mph, I'm hoping to see 100 on that set up I'm working on at the min, or at least somewhere near anyroad.

will do mate. think they are a bit big for what i want. i was planning to use a km/h to mph converter, which would give you up 190 mph on the clock.... mine would reach that.....if i rode it off a cliff biggrinbiggrin

If you get a set of DT125 clocks from an import they go up to 140 so a converter will mean you could see 140mph.

good point that andy, cheers. still think it'll have to be vapour though... does anyone know how reliable the rev counter on these clocks are? (they run off an orange wire from the coil) because i got time for a quick play after work today. thought i'd indulge in my dt abuse fetish and see what if revved to....

now this is a revvy fecker, but thats crazy, right?

The vapor is wicked mate.

A little bit of lag. Nothing worth mentioning. PLUS SHIFT LIGHTS!

Dave, I've spoken to my engineer.

Got a much better idea. We're going to gell the original DT bearings on. Push the bearings out of the top of the frame. Create an insert that will push the height of the yokes up.

Insert tapper bearings and install the yokes with the extended height.

It's a much better idea than pushing the stem out and using the original bearings, since those bearings are a bit....pathetic.

It's hard to hear as the sound quality isnt great but does that sound of the revs sound right for the indicated revs? I mean does 5krpm sound the same on your standard clocks because I cant see that being right. The gears in the rev counter drive in the engine might be different on the TZR so it may show 11k when actually its revving at 8-9? Just a thought. I wouldnt wanna take my revs that high!

To be quite honest there isn't a load on the engine so it's not going to cause any damage. I reckon it's a little out. But not far. What does it idle at?

It all looks to scale which is one thing. It looks like it's idling around 4-5 so knock 3 off and that's your answer I think.

i thought that earlier cal and checked it. if you look on the vid,the throttle cable is snagged around the bracket holding the clocks on disbelief when its ticking over normally it doesn't register on the rev counter.... the powervalve opens at 6000rpm like it should. i pinned it flat out on a couple of runs. runs out of puff at 11500 but will rev off the clock, and i dont know why? its got a 3nc cdi, inlet mod on the skirts and an ultra thin german base gasket. still dont think it should rev that high... mate suggested its about to fly apart biggrin (they do sometimes run really well before they pop) and andy, the rev counter runs off the coil confusegot me stumped lol

defo off the coil,i haven't got a rev counter cable attached lol its a 4dl loom and clocks, the loom seems similar to a dt one (apart from the electric start gubbins) i'll try and get out on it the weekend and see if i can pop it evileye can i use a strobe light on the magneto? would that be more accurate? thinking about that +8* advance ignition mod too now,see if i can get more power out of the high revs biggrin
