will that effect the fitted bearings though? other than making a lot of smoke from the bearing grease!?

I am waiting for my rebuilt crank back from PJME and thought it wise to get some advice on bearing and crank installation.

I intend to warm the case halves with a heat gun and drop frozen bearings in which i have done for all the other case bearings with no issue.

When it comes to installing the crank though, what method do people use? how do you ensure it is sitting square in the bearing?

like u said freeze bearings, put cases in oven for 20 mins on 200 get em red hot, bearings wil drop
in crank in freezer for a few hour and it will drop straight in to the inner races, just support the cases with some thick wood so its high enuf and flat
when u have the cases 2gether give the crank a tap either end with mallet till it spinns freely u may hear a loud knock when it sentres
but u cant get it wrong as u tighten the cases it centres its self
