hi i have a 3rm30 cdi on my 2002 dtr which i believe is restricted, if so can i put a 3rm-20 cdi straight on as iv been lead to believe is a better option or is there 2 much modding needed

From what I remember, it goes straight on, 3RM-10, thats the better one out of the three

 did I? oh well then the 20 one must be right one, its an RE  cdi iirc, theres deffo a thread in here somewhere explaining which ones the best, I do remember writing something in that. and I do remember that the 30 one is poo mind.

3RM-20 is the best of the CDI,s that bolt to the oil tank.

You also have to take in to account that older cdi's use different coils found in later models. This will require you to change the coils over and timing. Or something like that.

Nah Callum it just bolts on/plugs in, no need to change coils.

I know this is an old post now but on the off chance anyone is still interested in this, the 3RM-30 is identical to the 3RM-20 but has slightly different power valve mapping, it's still an "open" full power CDI but is a rare French variant from what I understand. If you have one of these CDI's like myself you're lucky, it's the 3RM-10 that is restricted.
