Plans for my bike!! :D
Permalink

Hi everyone, hopefully getting yz usd's next weekend with custom purple wheels, brake discs, sprocket and new tyres. They went straight on the dtre they were on before so they will fit my bike. Does anyone know if there's any way I can fit my speedo or what would be the cheapest alternative?

Cheers, Matt

Use a pushbike speedo

This one's on gumtree, might have been on ebay though. Been talking to the guy and he said he's tried signing up to the forum but can't. Yeah I saw that, does it actually work? won't pass an mot will it?

Don't need a speedo for an MOT. At least I've never had one. If the instruments there and it don't work IT WILL FAIL!

If you don't have one then it won't fail.

It's like indicators. IF you have the instruments there and they don't work then then it'll fail.

However if you have no indicators and no switches then it should pass.

Depends if the MOT'er wants to be a Cnt

You can have a speedo with it not working working mate - at the end of the day there is no way for them to test it the vehicle can't leave the MOT station

It's a weird one, you don't actually need one for an MOT but it's illegal to not have a speedo. My old husky never had one, guy just said get a pushbike one on it in case the police pull you.

Yeah. I'm 100% It's illegal to speed. You've got to have a really good excuse. Like 'Sorry but I saw a 125 four stroke and My DT just sped away'.

If they have any sympathy they'll agree.

This biggrin

Pretty sure it's due to the inability to test them correctly, if they could I'm sure it would be included within the test

I speedo is not a LAW OR need or a M.O.T . I know as i was pulled on my aerox with handle bar conversion and by vosa and they said nothing and it had to be re m.o.t as the lights didnt work.

+1 with the above. I mot'd my DT in august and my speedo stopped working on the way to the mot. I asked the guy if it was a fail and he said no so they knew it didnt work. It failed on a couple of other things but nothing about the speedo. I then rode 2000 miles on the bike without a speedo. Didnt get stopped so cant say if its illegal but i dont think it is.

I've got no speedo either, i can see it being illegal if you're caught on the road, but for the MOT i'd say it wouldnt be an issue!

That doesnt make sense though to me. If its not a requirment on a mot i cant see it being illegal, otherwise it would be on the MOT surely.

1000000% I have been pulled by vosa and the police , Vosa did a road side m.o.t as i was caught wheeling in BNQ car park.

Non of the lights work on the bike, so i blagged it saying i wouldnt start , and they said about the speedo.

My works were"Its not a leggal requiment or m.o.t is it" Vosa guy NO ITS NOT. Still got stung with , prihibitation and a section 59". :(
