MY 1989 DT125E 3MD1 PROJECT

Picked this up the other week, needed a fair bit of a tickle up, loom was totally buggered, and it wouldn't start, and needed a couple of panels.

This is how I got the bike

I was going to go to town on it and strip it right down, then do a total rebuild, but my eldest daughters boyfriend has just done his CBT, and I said he can use it till he does his direct access. so basically I'm getting it tidied up so it's roadworthy, and through the MOT, I've pretty much got all the bits I needed such as panels, sprayed up tank, re-upholstered seat, a servo for the powervalve, and a few other bits and bobs. Managed to sort all the loom out, new Iridium spark plug, air filter, changed and re-jetted the carb, starts up and runs sweet now, and starting tomorrow I'll be getting it all put back together again.

Seat recovered and shaped, plus a fancy cut out.

More pics to come

Lol aye sort of, it's got 'come back on it' when he passes his full bike test in the near future, if I get a frame for the 4DL engine, my eldest daughter will be using the Black/Green one by Xmas I 'm guessing, bikes should be ridden, not just sat looking nice I reckon

I'll ride the green one for ya, we've got some good terrain here!!!

Not 100% on the seat colour... It's gonna get dirty!!!! Liking the lettering, I may have to do that for my bike - different!!!

Paid £350 for it Trip, and another £100 to Deeteemx to pick it up from Swindon and bring it down to me, so £450 in total. Aye Coastie it's a fookin nightmare that colour, keep having to wipe mucky fingerprints off it every 5 minutes while working on it this weekend. It's pretty much going to be a White version of the Black one, or as near as damn it.
Some pics of where I am with it at the minute.

Still a fair bit to do to it, decals need sorting, DEP end can needs a good polish and stubbying, resprayed sidestand needs swapping with the one thats on at the minute, and the rear indicators need fixing on, engine casings need spraying,  banging the powervalve servo on, Acerbis neoprene fork socks, get forks sprayed White and Green. Hoping to have it sorted for next weekend.

Looks sweet. Light colour materials was a mistake Iade and won't again.

My grips looks sweet. Black and grey to go with the black and grey bike but my god to they get oily. Just going to have black ones next.

Aye when laddos done his full bike test, and I get it back, then it'll be done properly, but at the minute I just need to get it through its MOT, then I'll be getting on sorting out the TZR4DL/DTR hybrid, I get the 4DL engine back this week, stage 3 spec, all suited and booted.

not my cup of tea but looks different n unique, most likely never done on a dt pipe before, im sure u could easily make a plate to go on the end with a hole in then mod the inner pipe to connect to it so its flush like u say

Some up to date pics of the 89 White bike, as it is now, my lads decided he's having it, so he can get to work, looks pretty good now its going Black/White, plus him being a fairweather Derby County supporter,

Still some tickling up to do on it, but almost ready for M.O.T
