i have an 02 dt 125 r black and want to clean and get rid of flakiness at rear of the frame underneath the rear mudgaurd and seat , thing is i dont want to take the engine out to do it just the seat off mudgard assembly and airbox etc , is this a common point of corrosion on the bikes, and will it be ok if i get rid of the rust with wire wool and then finer grades of paper then prime and then paint/spray , whats the best spray ? thanks
defo a common rust point lol powder coating the whole frame is best but...one of those wire brush drill attacments will clean it up in seconds hammerite smooth will give a strong finish and should last a while
and if you are useing hammerite smooth do it some where warm did mine in the cold and you can see every brush mark not good , but one year on and rust has not shown through yet
