When I was in my parents cars going to the beach etc I used to sit day dreaming out the side window imagining an off road bike doing the same speed as us but through all the woods and ****. My sister used to do the same but with horses. We had so many arguements about horses being faster than bikes.. LOL.

haha, as much as I love cars. Yeah, I think no matter what car I owned I'll never be as close to a machine as I am with a bike. I mean I've built a car to my own preferences (my 2.0 8v nova) but it was a handfull and every ****er wanted a lift without paying a penny. So I thought **** it, I'll buy a bike cos the pros outweigh the cons alot. Although at the moment with this bike fouling a plug every 5 minutes and never running right, with the winter firmly upon us and coming off a few times I'm swaying towards garaging the DT and buying my missus Astra for the winter..

I has a TS50 that my dad got from a scrapyard back when I was about 12. He fixed it up good enough to ride off road and I thought it was the fastest thing ever. Had that for about 3 years until it finally went bang. At 16 I brought another and had it on the road, much to my mums dislike. Then went on to have a kx250 off road, then a kmx125 and then got into cars. Sold all my bikes and started on the modding scene with cars.. Had a Renault 5 turbo but always missed a bike so.. I saved up 1500 quid and then found out I had 3k to come from the tax office.. I went and looked at an rs125, cagiva mito and then the DT. I'm 6ft4 so for me it had to be the DT. Had it, it got stolen.. Then had a derbi senda 80cc polini, then swapped that for another DTR :)

Do you still any modding with cars or is it just all bikes now?? should get pictures up of your old bikes!! be good to see the TS50! when you had that

well for me its simple, i did my mod 1 test in october and failed my mod 2 on one stupid mistake , anyway i didnt fancy doing my test again till april so i wanted a bike to get me through the winter , im a 40 something rider and have good memories of my motocross days and my varoius bikes and i prefer small 2 strokes to 4 strokes, i used to have mainly yamahas yzs 125s and 250s , my last 2 stroke before i quit riding was an IT 175 loved that bike , so being on a 125 is a bit crap but the dt is nice and with some changes should go nicely if i can get the bloody thing to rev past 7k lol.

About 4 years ago at 17 all my friends got cars and I wanted a motorbike

I knew absolutely nothing, just that 'dirt bikes' looked awesome and that 'race' bikes were boring as hell

Didn't understand what 2 or 4 strokes were or even any basic vehicle maintenance

Googled bikes for a few weeks, thought the DT looked the best out of all the 125 options

Haven't looked back since

I never had a camera back when I had the ts lol. Was blue and yellow and the best thing since sliced bread or so I thought. The kx cost me 600 quid and my brother went halves on it. He was 16 at the time and was scared to ride it so it was basically all mine, went to a few places with it but I was never good enough to compete. Ended up just playing about on it with some mates. Got stopped walking it to a local field and the cops seized it cos they had complaints :( got it back when I blagged it wasn't me no paid a hefty sum. Was a good ride, problematic though. I still mess with cars from time to time. Had an Audi free Christmas but sold that sharpish cos it cost a bomb to insure and run. S3 with 400+ bhp lol. My third car was an rs turbo fiesta :) been through the 2ltr nova stage, the corsa turbo, cavalier gsi. Wouldn't ever go without a bike again, hence why I have 2 dts now :) And yeah, loved the 3k. I should have brought a supermoto dt tbh.. I'd have preferred that. I originally looked into a 4 stroke bikes as I would have used it everyday. Got the 2 stroke and although their a pain sometimes. The power output compared to 4 stroke is awesome!

No through my childhood I was really into cars, modified cars but as I got older I realised how hard it would be to have a nice car in my late teens so that's really what got me into bikes...

I was always after some kind of dirt bike though, at first I was looking into the Honda xr 125 but I was always more attracted to the dts, and when 1 came up locally for 650 I stupidly bought it, checking it over by myself with no mechanical experience, I saw a running dt with a logbook that matched the frame etc. so I bought it, worst ever decision I ever made lol

Still sitting there rotting away after I tried about six months trying to get it to run from day 2 of owning it :/

But hey I was determined to have a nice dt so when i saw the RE being advertised locally for a grand, 57 plate, 10,000 miles i did everything to make sure I was getting a gooden and I loved it that much I cheekily asked my mates dad if I could borrow the 300 I needed to buy it ;)

And so yeah, here I am today, two dts, one I absolutely love and will probably keep it for ever but slowly get other bigger bikes to add to the collection, but I'm sure ill always keep to enduro/supermoto though :D

Yeah, i think we all went through the modded car phase! My main love wjen i was younger was flying! Bewn something i've wanted to do since day one! But as i grew up m dad owned bikes so that got me hooked on them so i had the pw 80 an 50 lus a quad when i was younger then when i was 15 an i got a mini moto for a fiver! Played around with it fixed it all up and made it my baby then from that i had 2 pit bikes one 125 and a 160, i killed both of them.running from the police! Haha then i fort i needed something bigger so started riding mx 125 2 strokes an just fell inlove with them and mx! Then i had my firstmjor scare which put me off 2 strokes so i moved on up to the heavier 4 bangers 250f's a.350 and even a 450 then sold the 250. Cause i wasn't riding it enough plus my valves had gone an now a year later i'm back inlove with 2 strokes all because of the dt!! Wanted a crm at first but they're so hard to find!! Love my dt even tho it's just been one massive headache!!

I never had any thing to do with stinkers and been riding big touring bikes for years and then got the Bugilow and wanted a small light ish bike to put on a rack on the back to use while away in the Isle of Man and got a Honda XL200r that looked ideal for the job but was a pain it is a Italian made 1 and Honda don't recognize the VIN number so can't get a parts list for it , but then a friend that had a DT that he had bought 17 years ago to do his test on and then when he past his test he got a BMW Funduro but kept the DT to go up on the Moor tops bid watching but he never looked at it never maintained it at all and then it got that he could not get it started and it stood in his garage for 9 months untouched and it was in his way so he decided it had to go and it ended up with me for a price that any true blue Yorkshire lad could not refuse , brought it home took a look and thought this is a bit far gone it is going to be a strip it and flog what I can but then as I got in to it , it started to look as if it could be done after all and that at least with the DT there was a good parts supply unlike the XL so then I had a look to see just what was needed to get it running , and the list was a exhaust system a swing arm air filter new plug found what I needed on fleebay for about £65 and then found I needed the bushes for the linkage from swing arm to frame dog bone thing a majigs Yam bit ouch £90 then pair of tyres £60 cheapo jobs , now starts like a good n in for MOT strait through on to the road and find out what stinkers are like on to the local bypass following a car at about 45 mph getting bored as you do and thought well come on lets go for it wound it up hit the power band that sweet rev band and OH BOY WHAT THE FFFFFFF------ KKKK is this A 125 best part of 70 on the clock a gear to go and 1500 to go to red line ????????? WHOW so on to the back of the van over to the IOM and play with the big boys what fun it was a shock to have a little 125 being so playful , I still love my big bikes but have fallen in love with the little stinker it is such fun , would not want to try two up touring to south of France on it like on the big one but local play time has taken on a new light over the years I have been very lucky to have ridden some top bikes Fireblades Gixer's Ducati's Trupets BSA and many more but none have been such a surprise that power band is so so so playful and addictive , long live the DT I say
and Oh ye to help things along I found a forum full of help and banter and one OLD HOOLIGAN started to relive some of his miss spent youth what ever you do dont get rid of your DT's when you go to bigger bikes keep some FUN in your life

Ive been wanting a bike for years but needing to travel for a new job forced me to speed it up a bit. Im 6ft 2" and 18st so needed the extra power of a 2 stroke. I was going to get a dt of some form but went for a tdr for the extra size it offers so i dont look a tool. Cant wait to get the thing on the road!

Well my Dad has been into bikes since he was a child so i guess I was always gonna get the bug. I was never huge on them until when I was around 14 and a friends dad got him a kx125 field bike. I had a ride on the back of it in some local fields and loved it. From then on I was in love with dirt bikes.

I started saving like a madman from my paper rounds and about 5 months before my 16th birthday I bought a Suzuki TS50X, seems to be a popular one among us dt fans! It was blue and yellow and on the flat it would touch 30mph, no more! I once saw 45mph on the clocks going down a huge hill!

It was great to be on the road but I just wished it would go faster.

A friend who was a few months older than me got a DT125R when he turned 17 and I knew I wanted one. I rememberd it from the field days on the KX125. Everyone wanted one and also remember my mate telling me to lie to some other guys and telll them he had a DT.

I started saving...again...

Before my 17th I had found a DT125RE with 183km on the clock, imported from Holland. It was immaculate! I paid £2095 for it and rode it home from kent a week after my 17th. I loved that bike and rode it for 4 years until I was 21 and did the DAS test. It was a sad day when I sold it but meant I could repay the debt to my Dad that got me my rd350.

Since then I've always kept my finger on the pulse with DT125's and the rest is history.
