So seeing as i'm doing general improvement work on my bike over the next couple of weeks. Should i consider changing/upgrading my reed petals? Bike has done near on 17k miles (had a top end rebuild at 15, bore was perfect :) )
Just wondering how long they last on average. seeing as they're nice n old would i get a nice improvement with nice new ones? Also which are the best to get? Seen a few posts a while back about race ones but not sure which is best
As an upgrade Seany, carbon race reed petals are the better ones to go for, two main types on the market are Boyesens, and Hy-Tech, I plumbed for the Hy-Tech ones , bit cheaper than the Boyesons and do the same job, found it a much crispier throttle after I fitted mine.
I bought Hy Tech reeds thinking they were carbon , the ad was a bit misleading , the reeds were glass fibre but a lot stiffer than the old ones on the bike . Did they make a difference? -not noticeable , but I needed to lean out the jetting

I went with M and P carbon fibre reeds. Ordered a set for my brothers DTR and also a set for my RD350. Company is very helpful and i also asked them about a set of tyres and they supplied me with a set of bridgestone trail wings ( found to be reccomended by many for the dtr) for £65 including delivery. The cheapest i could find elsewhere were £100 plus postage!
Hmm, I remember now why I did not buy from MP , they want 20 quid to post reeds to Cyprus !!
I put in the comments box when i ordered my sets ( 1 for a DTR and 1 for an RD350)
"Not impressed that the postage doubles. It doesn't cost 5.50 to send these items out. On a £60 order i would expect free delivery, especially on such small, light weight items as carb fibre reeds. I was very close to cancelling the order."
The next day I had an email from Amy at their customer services who refunded all my postage charges :)
