have to be a animal just to star one lol me and 4 mates chipped in and bought one as kids (13-14) still got a broken bone in my foot from when it kicked back. snapped me mates leg in 2 places when it kicked back. 3rd mate got thrown clean over the handlebars and broke his collar bone no we sold it to an older mate. he took it to a motorcross track. 1st motox bike,1st time on a motox track. suffice to say he's not with us anymore...... i'd have another one,but i'd be far more cautious with it

Question is do most of the bigger 2 strokes are high maintenance or are they just the ones you normally find on the track??

the big smokers need longer to warm up,you cant just kick and thrash them lol they usually last longer than small bore smokers because you dont tend to wring their necks like the small stuff. cr 500's have glass pistons as stock though hmm guy down the road has a ktm 300 and thrashes it from cold 6 days a week for 20 miles to work (and home again). i've lived here 2 years and it aint broke yet, dont seem too bad lol

it is something else. the noise on the start line is epic, and the amount of people who dont make 2 laps is mental lol i'd defo need 18 months solid training to go again

Ay so your saying that most of them, as long as if you look after them by warming them up, using the best oil etc and changing the gearbox oil when it needs changing then they should not need getting rebuilt regularly

I always thought that the bigger two stroke crossers you would need to change the piston constantly as most are made for the track, but I'm guessing I'm wrong lol

I reckon a bike with 40" wheels wouldn't go amiss

its all about the warming up lol 500's have a huge piston, takes a good while to warm it up properly. but like i say,you dont thrash bigger bikes half as much as little ones. a 125's got about 20hrs before full rebuild,250's can stretch to 60-80 hours. only rebuilt one 500 (kick kick thrash, lasted 30-40 seconds) no idea how many hours they can rack up though i have heard someone claim nearly 200 hours with a wiseco piston

ha ha ha aye, Monster MX , heres an idea I'd try too, get another throttle cable, turn the junction round, so its two going into one, not one going into 2, swap oil cable with normal throttle cable, then get a thumb throttle off a quad, duel throttle if wanted, plus a back up incase twist grip throttle cable gave up the ghost near the end. thumb throttle is usefull on rough track, I reckon anyroad.
