just wondering tdr250/rd250

hi currently on with rebuilding 2 dtrs one for my young lad and one for me seen the thread on here with the wr200 conversion and looks sweet and was considering the athena 170cc kit but just wondering out of curiosity i know tdr 125 and dtr 125s are almost identicle engines, and are interchangeable however tzr bottom ends are simaler but due to different swing arm mounting positions they are not interchangable with dtr, any ideas as to weather a tdr or rd 250 engine could be fitted to a dtr frame without a ridiculous amount of work?????

am probabally dreaming and not possable but if i dont ask i'll never know and am sure someone on here will have thought about it or been asked about it or that maybe it has been raised before anyway if anyone has any ideas or knowledge experiance as far as this goes drop me a message

thanks

Its all possible. With the 250 engine being 2 cylinder the front of the frame on the DT would need modifying as the exhaust ports would be exiting right onto the frame rails. Exhausts would be a ball ache, could possible adapt a pair of TDR ones but only one side of the DT has a flared panel for the silencer so it may not look right unless you route one side across and stack the rear silencers. An RD350 has been fitted to a DT frame. Have a look on Google.

what nath said.. the exhaust ports would be right on the frame so urll have to cut n mod the frame, easy job if ur good with a welder.

same with the expansion pipes would of thought the only ones available for the 250 are ones that go under the frame rather than curl up to go along side the bike like standard dt, but u could get custom expannys made one to go either side of the bike but that will be VERY expensive.
