Yeah the barrel is 4fu 00 nickel plated! Just talking to a guy on the local forum and he says he may have a Mitaka piston for the TDR! he said he'll check tmz in work so fingers crossed! If not he said its a KBH... anyone no if thats any use?

I'll order everything over the weekend off PJME.... I'll wait til that lad gets back to me before I do!

Thanks a million lads, can't wait to get this rebuilt so I can put my mind at ease!! biggrin

edit: will stick up some pics as I do it... new handlebars, grips and a fork service as well.. oh and gutting the expanny!! wink

I'm in a bit of a knot here... about to rebuild the engine in my TDR, got the loan I needed to afford parts... Only thing is, I am having a very hard time trying to source anything decent for the TDR and anything I can find is bad quality or mad money!!

What I need cleared up is, are DTR and TDR engines identical/ interchangeable??? like a 2002 DTR the same as 2002 TDR??? I have asked this question to so many people but can't get a straight answer!

I found a Mitaka piston kit, small end bearing, genuine Yamaha head & base gaskets for less than 100euro delivered, but they are for the DTR!! hmm

If anyone could clear this up for me once and for all I would be extremely greatful!!

Go to google. Try yambits or PMJE. The bits I've found to do my rebuild come from PMJE but yambits might have them. Also check the useful links section matey. Should have lots of bits in there.

Yeah PJME is where I got that price for all the bits I need... Only thing is there's no section for TDR 125, and the parts are all for DTR! If I knew they would defo fit my bike I'd be ordering them tonight!! aww

Yambits is good for misc. stuff... I've got brake & clutch levers from them before... But i'd rather get a mitaka piston kit which yambits don't have, and the gaskets aren't genuine either!

as far as i know the engines should be same apart from your barrel being plated? (is it the 4fu?) everything should be the same for dtr and tdr

think the stock 4FU piston has a flat top to it?

i have run 4fu cylinders and heads on 3md coded engines with a dt piston and had no grief?

be worth checking the standard compression on 4FU top ends,sure they're lower compression as standard smile

Yeah its flat topped as the guy on the other forum said to me! With a bit of luck he'll have the Mitaka TDR piston kit and then I'll be hoping the rest of the DTR stuff fits!! Will let yis know how I get on anyways!! smile
